I dont understand that, if there are six ponies how can there be three original pony figues in a set, are they releasing sets of six and then others with them? I dont get how that is going to work. I wonder where we will find them

I can't wait! This is exactly the sort of thing I've been waiting for. I do hope they're just like the G1 ponies but in G3 poses.

Good work, Hasbro!

Now to do a few more of this sort of thing... For instance, can we please have some old G1 characters released in different G1 poses (but with a slight difference - maybe the G3 hoof magnet?) And, most importantly, release those non-existant Tales ponies at last!

I saw the advert earlier too, Amane! And I got it on video. There's no playground though - just a see-saw, which I think comes with Pinkie Pie's Balloon House anyway :(. Cherry Blossom was shown in the animation though, so I guessed she was coming out :)!

Looks to be, sometimes ponies look better when your holding them though, I hated So softs but now I love em! Maybe she wont be as bad as we think, she looks to be the size of a styling pony too.

I have been dreaming about a special release like this for years now! ToT I am so excited! I'm so glad I decided to read Pony Corral tonight, really that's the best pony news I read in ages!

This is a reason for me to celebrate!





(Btw, I think this line will have G3 molds, but color schemes and symbols simliar to the original six. And $15 per three ponies isn't weird; they probably release them in two packs! I can't wait, lol!)

I'd prefer the set in a NEW G3 mold made in the style of the collector pony pose with the same color and symbols on both sides of them. I'd still buy them if in G1 molds cause they I can have them all fresh and new. Yum either way.

IMO, they will probably do a G3 style of the collector's pose. You have to think about their target audience...it's not adult collectors, but kids, and I really don't think ponies that are drastically different from the ones they already own are going to go over very well. Even if they are a special collector's edition, kids will play with them, and I think continuity amongst the ponies is somewhat important for that. The collector's ponies are a bit larger than G3's, and I don't think kids would be too fond of godzilla Minty and mammoth Butterscotch rampaging the streets of Ponyville, so I figure they'll make a smaller version of the collector's pose, and adjust the propotions a bit to be more G3 style, and basically end up with something 95% similar to the original.

I feel sorry for G3 Minty, Cotton Candy and Butterscotch though...now they're getting snubbed by the grannies!

I'll buy them nomater what! Just because Its a celebration thing.

I REallyyy hope they have symbols on both sides (preferably the origonal symbols) and are in a collector type pose...The thing I like about the origonals is that they are all in the same mold.
As much as I love my six I don't think it would be good to re-release exact copies of the vintage ones. They should at least have something to distinguish them from thier 80's counterparts.
I think it would make out g1 sixes loose thier luster.
And who knows, If they did that Next they could pump out Rapunzels and mimics by the hundreds..

The aniversary minty butterscotch and cotton candy Will look diffreent then the pre existing g3's I hope!... good Luck explaining that one though hasbro..hehe

I can't believe they actually went through with it. I remember them asking us this question during that Hasbro survey. This will definitely be exciting. I'm so excited about this. As such a young person, I wasn't around in the 80s so I didn't get a chance to get these girls the first time around. =).

I know a lot of collectors are hoping for G1 molds, but I don't see it happening. Maybe G1-ish molds, but I don't see identical ones happening. I won't be upset with G1 or G3 molds, though, just so long as I can go to a store and buy Snuzzle.

i saw it, they looked amazing.

they are NOT identical though, so no worries about your vintage collection devaluing.

their vynil looked a little different. their eyes might have been blinky. their colors werent exact. they were wonderful.

im gonna be on the verge of tears all day.

im so excited that ive gone beyond the excited stage straight to the "i cant handle it anymore im gonna sit on the floor and cry" stage.

yeah, i know some people just get one peachy and they call it done. And complete for you is really having all the ponies that you want to have, not necessarily the ones you may not want.

i can't get the video to play, has anyone found out if they are going to be at all retailers? i ask b/c my hubby's diecast transformers, and he-man figs, could only be found at tru and kb. i don't think large retailers (like walmart, target, etc) really get into reissue stuff.

Somewhat to my surprise, I'm completely disinterested in these. I was hoping for G3 versions.

Yes, I know - I'm sorry - these are classic and will make a ton of people happy - but I got into MLP a little later, when the poses were more dynamic, and I was never a fan of the stiffer 'collector's' pose. My first ponies were Medley and Lickety-Split, I think.

Ah, well! I'm delighted that so many people are overcome with glee for these.

The lady on that good morning america segment said they'll be in retro packaging. The only problem with that though, is they'll be in sets of 3, so I'm assuming it's the old style logo/coloring in a 3 pack of some sort...maybe a box like the family ponies came in?

WOW, I am so excited!! I told my kids about this a couple of days ago and now they're begging to go to the store every day to see if "The first 6" are out yet. I keep telling them they have to wait a few months.

That said--and I am so beyond overjoyed that we are FINALLY getting some G1's again--I REALLY hope these are just prototypes, because they do not look right at all. Their eyes are like small black dots, not our loveable pony eyes, and the hair color is way off (not to mention no forelock...looks fine on G3s but I think the G1s need it, most of them).

Do you guys think they will look exactly like this picture?

Wow! That's really awesome! I never would have thought that I'd see the original six re-released. In a way, I'm really happy Hasbro is releasing these 6 in their original forms since I never got to get any of them as a child. But, at the same time, I was sort of hoping for them to be slightly more G3-ish in appearance. Ah well, I'm still very excited about this news though. =D

Yay! More Ponyville sets! I really like the new houses they're coming out with.

Ew, that singing Pinkie Pie is kinda creepy. *_*" She's 10x weirder looking than any of the So-softs that have been released. I doubt I'll get her...she's just too weird. I think I far prefer Lily Lightly over her. And, what's with the sitting Rainbow Swirl? She looks really strange sitting on that Ice-Cream van. The Twirling Twinkle Twirl is kinda neat though.

The ponies on display remind me of Brazilian G1s with My Pretty pony feet... while those MIB may look more natural because of the plastic covering. Either way I don't know what to think of them, but I'd still like to buy the Bluebelle, Cotton Candy and Butterscotch set, or probably both lol. Pity that they're flat foots though. (The tipping freaks me out!)

I REALLY hope these are available for everyone and that Hasbro doesn't make them something sneaky like limited edition, mail orders or only available within the U.S as tons of people will be going crazy for them, not just us collectors. And you can be sure eBay will be in on them soon.

I've been away from the pony boards for a while and decided to pop in for a look (meh World of Warcraft addiction, it saps ALL your attention from everything else) and WOW.....didn't expect hasbro to keep their word with releasing the Collector's Ponies again. I'm kind of surprised that I wasn't excited at all, mainly because I was hoping to either to see unicorns and pegasus ponies or G1 ponies rehashed in G3 molds. However I saw none of them.

Further more, I don't find the colours on the prototypes very appealing. Minty seems overly bright while Blossom looks more like Thundercloud from the Mountain Boys. On top of that, Hasbro seems to be trying to be not so gray on Snuzzle when she HAS TO BE gray in order to be Snuzzles. I like the Ponyvile stuff but if they're all hitting stores at once, no way I am going to buy them all. And they all look like very bulky playsets. I want small simple packs that I can play and easily stash away. The large ponies...needless to say.... are creepy. Even Chuckie will be scared.

Regarding the ice-cream pony....I'm beyond care whether it's a new or old character because they are all starting to look alike to me.

I guess I am being too critical but I think Hasbro is seriously killing the pony line for me.

I agree with you. IMO, Hasbro is putting too much out at once. Some of us, like you, can't keep up with it all, especially the Ponyville stuff. I like the Styling ponies though if that's what you mean by the large ponies. I have three of them. I mean, I guess it is better to have too much stuff then not enough and have us waiting for a long time for something new.

As for the 25th Anniversary release of the newly made G1's, I'm kind of mixed about them. I like the G1 package theme and how the ponies are somewhat like G1's, but they're too bright. G1's are less bright and made simple. I am glad, but very surprised they didn't put tinsel in their hair. Personally, I like the originals better, but that's just me. Maybe when I see them in person I'll think differently. I hope Hasbro saw our message about G3 boys too, but I'm almost afraid to see pics of what they'll look like. :nervous:

I think the eyes look weird because they have no lower lash line. Also, it looks like they used the bad-quality hot pink hair from the G3s (like on Brights Brightly) for Cotton Candy's hair. You'd think they'd use the same hair as Snuzzle's, but someone was probably like "hey, it's fluffy and tangled just like cotton candy! We should use it!"

But, yeah, kudos for Hasbro for going through with it!

I can't wait to get them! I love the fact that they made them in the original G1 pose but different enough to tell them apart at a glance.

I'm sorry about those of you that are disappointed that they are not in G3 molds. They would have been cute that way as well. But look at it this way. Hasbro makes tons of G3s, where as this may be the only opportunity G1 collectors may have to buy new from the store.


OK this may be a weird question, but why does the box say original 1983? weren't they originally released in 82?

However, not to be ruining anyones joy over this, but even though they have the same mold and everything- I kind of think that the first releases aee the prettiest.... - these look a little bit different...of course, it's 25 years since they first come out so it would have been a miracle if they were identical, but there is something about their hair...? and colors?

I do not know if I'm going to get these new ones- but I'm glad they did this in the old spirit of MLP and didn't fancy anything up! Go Hasbro!

I don't think the 80's ones will go down in value. Maybe they will if people are buying them just to say they have the pony, but for true collectors the 80's ones will still have just as many memories. Besides, it does not look as if the ponies are *exactly* like the 80's ones, they may use the same mold but the colors are different IMHO. In a way it is like the ponies in the same mold that they made in other parts of the world, only new. A brand new Nivana like pony *lol* .
I hope this will make them think about using the old molds more often, since they do have at least some of them left

LOL You got that right...if they say they are going to re-release the SECOND set, which I believe included some of the early pegasus and unicorns.....you will see shadowgem go flying by in a blur to the nearest Target the moment they open...

This might be a total mistake... but on entertainment earth's website (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/), they indicate that these will be out in MAY of 2007, and provide some lovely pics, BTW. I hope that this hasn't been mentioned before in this 25 page thread.

this is really quite extrodinary...

I know I'm hearing about it somewhat late in the game, but I'm really very excited about these! I happened to be looking through an old booklet that came with the vintage my little pony baby buggy, that had an offer for the 'collector ponies' within it. Then I log in on here, see this topic on the front page shortly after putting it away! Creepy...as I was just wishing they'd do something like this. Though, what I'd REALLY been hoping for is that they'd release some of the original G1 characters in the newer style, just for fun. Little girls wouldn't know the difference, and besides a new version of mimic would be cool...I could actually afford a new one *chuckles*

anyway, can't wait to see these in stores, the other pony merchandise doesn't really do anything for me...I'm not too crazy about those mini ponys with the swollen heads, I liked the petite ponies allot better when they came out in the early 90's , they were cool

No AU$40 ain't US$15 - at the moment its about US$30 so here in Oz we are paying about US$30 for each set of 3.

The higher prices are normal for ponies is Australia. We always pay more - aren't we lucky...

OMG.....Hay everyone...I live in Oz and I have them, I went to the city and there they were sitting on a shelf all innocent like....No frenzy crowd like I thought. I bought 2 sets. I am sooo broke, but one will to play and the other as investment. I am sooo happy. Sorry to boast, maybe I should be in the brag forum. let me know if anyone want pictures.
