So last night I was at WalMart and since Barbies and ponies are on the same aisle, I was scouring for something new to occupy either myself or Opium. What I found was amazing! Retro re-releases of Barbie! From the 60's and up. Has anyone else seen them? I know Mattel's the evil company but OMG I am in LOVE with this series! They had the 60's Barbie with the fancy black dress and microphone.
First Barbie Doll. One of the first porcelain pieces my Grandmother ever bought me was of this doll. She immediately went on my list. Just OMG wow! These dolls are gorgeous! I also adore the Carol Burnett show GWTW Scarlett, to cute!

This is baaaad. I have thus far kept my doll collecting under check, but it runs in my blood. I can see huge purchases coming up in my near future.
*edit* OMG they have Midge and Allan!! On Fire

Ohhh yes. Barbiecollector.com is an evil, evil place that sucks away all my money.....but I love it! I've had my eye on the Midge and Allan set for awhile now, but I can't see spending that much on it when I can buy the real thing for cheaper (at least for now, anyway). The Becky set they're releasing looks really neat even though the price is scary. I remember seeing some protypes of her in Barbie Bazaar in the 90's. I have a feeling that I will wind up getting some of the decade Barbie sets. I really like the Malibu and Redhead TNT sets. The Superstar and Rocker sets are really neat too, but they're farther down my list. Ahhh sometime I need to post pics of my Barbie collection. Between my what's in my apartment and at my parent's house, I probably have 600+ dolls (it's been awhile since I counted).

Sorry for the tangent. Blush Yes, the new stuff coming out looks amazing!

I'm in love with the Hard Rock Barbie. totally drool worthy. Went by one of our local pawn shops; the guy has a ton of vintage barbies. They're extremely pricey though.

People love to put high prices on vintage barbie just because they are 'old'. It's just like with ponies. I've been in my fair share of antique stores where they have a basic Bubblecut Barbie with MAJOR green ear and are asking $150 or more. And then they laugh at me when I tell them to take out the earrings because the green will only get worse. Ahh well. Vintage Barbie prices are starting to increase some, but I would probably sell every single one of my bubblecuts if I could get $150 each for them. And all of mine have normal colored ears.

I saw them too at my local Walmart. I am eagerly awaiting the Barbie and the Rockers doll reproduction. I always wanted her as a child and never got her. I think it is neat that they are including other items in with the dolls also, verses just releasing the doll by itself.

Oh, the Barbie Collector dolls are addictive! I've spent a pretty penny on the Dolls of the World Barbies.

I really like the Rocker Repro; very cool!
