ChibiSkittles Guide to Questing
Exclusively for the MLPArena <3
So. You wanna quest. You wanna make oodles and oodles of PG and BP? Sounds mighty tempting doesnt it?
Hints before reading:
First off, I want to make it very clear: A lot of PG goes into questing. Most PG you earn is actually put right back into questing. So it helps having on the side PG makers: like breeding, selling BP or adoptables. I personally do all three
Second: Gaining BP/PG wont happen overnight. Think of it this way: a medium quest takes at least 10-20 levels, meaning your pony has to go through at least 10-20 contests (assuming you are lucky and found a pony that levels at least once an hour) before he can be put on a quest. Contesting takes a bit of work, it isnt as easy as it seems in the beginning.
Third: You will be shuffling ponies around a lot. Modifying who's being contested, and who isnt. Figuring out who likes this sort of contest and who doesnt. What I've found in my experiments is that Shellies and Dragons LOVE tugs. With a passion. Kirins do very well in Seeks too

The point is: not all ponies like marathons, and not everyone runs marathon contests (I am one who does seeks and tugs mostly).
Fourth: If at all possible, start training with babies. For some reason adult ponies level up faster if they were trained as babies.
Fifth: If you dont feel comfortable risking your starters for contesting, go peer in the market <3 there are a lot of cheap ponies one can use for contesting. I have a lot of ponies like that, and if you cant find any you like, drop me a PM, i'll see if I have any to spare
Sixth: No more than ONE contest per hour. Ponies take between 0 and 8 damage points per hour, so to put them into more contests is risking their life. Also pay attention to when babies are due, because giving birth and running in a contest in the same hour will kill a pony most of the time.
Basics:
Got yourself a good stash of PG now? I recommend at least 100,000-300,000 PG, just in case. Pick six ponies. Any six. High levels, low levels, babies or adults. As stated above, I recommend starting with babies

First thing I suggest doing, make sure your ponies are fully vetted. Check the fairy. Check your finances (to make sure the last time you vetted was processed), and finally check each individual pony (for now xD) Are they 10/10 with their health? Yes? Now, find a contest!
To conserve PG, I try going for low fee contests, but those always seem to fill up quickly, so you have to be fast (But please be polite, if the user has a sign saying please wait until Such and Such enters, I recommend listening. After all, they are the ones spending the PG to hold the contest). Got your pony in? Good

Go double check that they are vetted XD Think I am kidding? I typically check a few times a hour, on all four accounts I contest. I'd rather spend the time double and triple checking than to have to spend BP resurrecting ponies.
Now you wait until the blasted tick ends. 2-7 minutes later, that wasnt so bad. Click the vet button, but watch your PG total. Make sure it goes down. Also re-check a pony or two that originally had the [V] button. Make sure their health went back up. Then check your finances to make sure the PG was deducted.
Lather, rinse, and repeat. Keep tabs on your ponies periodically to see how well they are leveling. If they dont seem to be liking the contests you are picking, try another pony, or moving them to another contest. I typically try to keep all of mine in one type of contest. Another thing to know is ponies gain experience (EXP) based on how well they place in contests. The higher they place, the more EXP they gain. The lower they place the less, and more moody they become. Sometimes its good to pay a bit extra in the beginning to put ponies into split contests. That way you know they are going up against ponies of similar level.
Your ponies starting to gain levels yet? Sweet

consult my handy dandy chart to see the questing level requirements and rewards:
Newbie: requires 1 level and can only be done once. Rewards 3k.
Easy: requires 5-10 levels. Rewards 4k.
Medium: requires 10-20 levels. Rewards 8k and 1bp.
Hard: requires 30-40 levels. Rewards 15k and 3bp.
Extremely Hard: requires 70-80 levels. Rewards 30k and 6bp.
Impossible: requires 120-140 levels. Rewards 70k and 10bp.
Does your pony have 17 undeployed levels (UDL)? Throw him on a medium quest

If his quest calls for 20... well, he just has 3 more to go! Thats less than an Easy quest! Check your next pony. Is he ready for a quest? Well... throw him on one if he is

keep going until you either run out of ponies or quest slots (if you run out of slots its a good thing xD).
Contest more! If you feel you can do it, add another pony to the herd.
Rotate quests:
Round one of rotation:
Pony1: quest
Pony2: quest
Pony3: quest
Pony4: gain
Pony5: gain
Pony6: gain
Round two rotation:
Pony1: gain
Pony2: gain
Pony3: gain
Pony4: quest
Pony5: quest
Pony6: quest
By doing this you have, in theory, a continual income of BP/PG, the more ponies you have questing, the more quests you can actually cycle through (I call it farming xD). But basically as one pony finishes a quest, another is nearly ready to go on one
That all said, the more ponies you contest, the more you can expand on these ideas. I started out questing with only 6 ponies on my main account. I now quest over 410 ponies on 5 accounts (just reciently expanded too xD). I got started by selling one double visible starter offspring (DVSO) who was a highlighter

The 250k that i got from her sale was able to give me the pg to get really started. If I can do it, anyone can
One final note of warning: Be prepared to lose ponies (hence why i suggested finding cheap fodder :P), no matter how careful you are, accidents will happen!
p.s. ask questions if I've confused you

I am always willing to answer them
