That explains why Satin N Lace was illustrated in the collector pose, there were also illustrations of her in the shy pose so I assume there might be a prototype of that as well.

Same goes for the Twinkle Eye backcards, I always wondered why Whizzer and Msquerade switched poses but the toy fair catalog picture explains it.

As for ponies that never made it to production, First Tooth Baby Sundance has always been on top of my list. It's such a pity that the horrendous BBE monster is the only version of her that ever got released. The FT looked adorable in this commercial:

Here's an illustration of her as well:

Also the TAF Babies originally had poseable heads and both Sweet Tooth and Up Up & Away came in the Noddins pose (which fits the rest of the FT poses a lot better IMO):

prototype ponies are so interesting... i've seen other threads about them, but they're few and far between.

Gosh...could you image walking into a thrift store one day and picking one of these girls up...Or just to hold one for just a moment. UGH I'd bet anyone of these girls would fetch a pretty penny.

I only have one protype and it's of a g3.5 mold. Not very popular but still very interesting <3

I love looking at these pics and those babies - SO CUTE!

I remember seeing that pic too Clipper! That was a gorgeous pony! Wish she would have been made...

I think my favorite prototypes though are the fairy brights. I wish someone would make a customized set of those...*Dies*

^Whoa! What is that pony made out of? o_o

I can't remember exactly what it was, but it definitely wasn't plastic. Might have been some kind of resin?

OMG Lady G, I've never seen that one before!!

It was on display at the Hasbro tour at the last RI fair Wink I was in absolute awe!

Did a lot of them really end up in the trash?? Whyyyyy?!

Unfortunately yes, probably because they just didn't think they were valuable. Some would have made it out though Smile
