I recently had a fiasco when my pony was lost in the mail on route to my partner...talk about heart breaking but I discussed the problem with my swap host and despite my lack of time found every last minute to make a new one for my partner.
these things happen..no one is going to hate you for when bad things happen they will be upset if you don't discuss it.

Had a pony disappear on the way too, in the celtic swap I was very busy after the swap so another member proposed a replacement which never arrived either! A little while passed and I fianlly could make a replacement which arrived safely finally!
As everyone said, accidents do happen, but as long as everyone communictaes it should be no problem

Well said and it needed to be said - I have been lucky that I have received all my swaps in a timely manner but I know many pony people that their partners disappear and they are left out in the cold.

Make sure and keep your receipt from the post office, so that if there's a problem on their end, you have some proof that you did ship out on time. I had that problem last year in an atc swap, even though I sent out on time, some of the cards sent overseas didn't arrive until 2 or 3 months later! >_<

It is important to remember what it takes to do a swap. You have to anticipate how much it takes to ship what you are creating, how long it will take you to get the things you need to make the item, and how long the actual fabrication will take. Periodically unexpected things will happen. However, that is where sending a pm to the swap host comes in.
That being said, I would also like to thank Jupi, for encouraging accurate feedback. I don't like to leave negative feedback myself. I've only done it twice. And I always feel very guilty when I do it, even if I am being honest. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Being encouraged to do so and explaining why it is important is very helpful to me. Thank you Jupi!

Hi, this is me being late for the commenting party...
This happened to me, too, in my first big swap (of course!). I was heartbroken when she didn't arrive at my partner's house, but was happy to make a replacement. The good news was that the original pony showed up something like 3 1/2 months later, and she was somewhere safe the whole time. Happy ending, but so frustrating while it was happening!
Needless to say, I got a tracking number for my Halloween swap pony that I just sent out! It's ridiculous that it costs so much more to get one (seriously, I think it's an extra $10 on some packages!), but I don't want to go through that again- or my partner. It has kept me from joining swaps when I knew I couldn't spend the extra, though.
I can't imagine how disappointing it must be to send out a pony and not get something in return.
