Hes not technically mine until Christmas day but he is this years Christmas present and he arrived today



I was hoping for a glow in the dark princess blue for christmas but she hasnt come up this year for me..and this boy came up, and since i have most boy variations I thought he would be an amazing addition to my herd!

He is gorgeous and in near minty condition, better than described! Hes very similar to my hong kong thundercloud, but his colour is darker, and his dark purple streak is interwoven on both sides.

Yay! I'm so happy for you! He looked so great in that picture. More pictures please!!! I think he's the first Thailand Thundercloud we've seen right? That just leaves Lightning to make an appearance then...

Yeah! So fab that both of them have stayed in the Arena community...cant wait til Xmas to see those pics!

The regular Fancy Pants babies are from Thailand There are also very rare variants of the Mountain Boys that were made there as well. As far as I know, those were the only 2 sets to be made there.

There are a few ponies here and there that have popped up. The Mountain Boys have been *slowly* coming to the surface. Over the past two years there have been:

Tornado x2
Fireball
Ice Crystal
Thundercloud

I don't think a Lightning or Sunburst has been found yet. Icey and Thundercloud just popped up recently on ebay and I think they both undersold. Does anyone know what type of value these boys hold?

The main difference so far as I can tell is the hoof marking, and the stripe in the main is rooted on the opposite side of the HK version.

I don't think any have been auctioned with an appropriate title yet, so it's hard to put a definite value on them.

I would second that....they are so few and they have almost all turned up unexpectedly and very quietly - so until we see a well labelled auction of which most or many of the community are aware I think its a guess more than a valuation at the moment.

Mega congrats! Mountain boys are gorgeous in themselves and I've never seen variants! I would love to third the pictures request!

Oh I see. But I'm confused about why out of att the ponies released in the us, only the fancy pants babies were made in thailand? Why not just make them in china??

They did make them in China too, those are the Euro variants

80s manufacturing! It sure wasn't straight forward...there isnt really a consensus on the "why Thailand" for the 2 sets [who knows more may have been made there and simply havent shown up as yet]...but it was obviously just a temporary change in supplier manufacturer...maybe Hasbro simply needed more product than their China/HK suppliers could provide, maybe they were thinking about moving production of the whole line and things didnt work out, who knows!!! The speculation will continue...
