PostPosted: 0    Post subject: He's here! Thailand Icey!!! And I need a lot of help!

So I just got my new boy in the post today...Thailand Ice Crystal! And he is so so so handsome. Flirty Pony

He's got a few issues about him though, and I need help sorting through some mysteries. Firstly - his mane! He has a thick forest green stripe that runs through his mane on *both sides* - though one row has less plugs than the other. Also, there are three "mistake" plugs, and there was blue threaded through, though two of the plugs were cut off at the base. My concern is, his head has been cut off with an exacto knife (not by me) and then reglued. Confused So I'm not sure if it's a reroot, or if the manufacturer did it. I haven't popped his head off yet to see if the root is original, but what would I be looking for???

The second mystery is the "Thailand" marking. Its very clear that is says Thailand, but if you look ever so closely, it's as though there is a different stamp or blank hoof there, and a semicircle melted over it, and stamped "Thailand". Has any of the other Thailand ponies noticed this? Did they have their own stamp in the manufacturing place, or did they have to stamp them individually?

I apologize for the poor photos, it's cold outside and I didn't feel like fighting with my camera at the moment.

Blue plug in mane - about 10 green plugs on this side

Thinner side of the stripe - about 7-8 plugs on this side (?)

Sorry, still working on getting a proper hoof shot. ^-^

Yes. I'm not sure if someone rerooted him, or if all the Thai boys have the stripe rooted on both sides. Of course, there's so little known about these guys that I'm not sure how much info there is about them.

I wouldn't worry about the hoof part - I've seen some spanish and italy hooves that do something similar.

the mane...I'd be curious how it looks on the inside. Factory usually looks woven on the inside (kinda like when you "fishtail" braid your hair)
like >>>>>>>
rehairs depend on the method but generally don't look woven.

As far as I remember the Thailand boys have the stripe on the opposite side from normal, not both. I'd be suspicious about a reroot too.

Found the Fireball thread;
www.mlparena.com/Forum...art=0.html

and pics of tornado show the stripe as I said.

Both sides does sound a little unusual! I didn't notice that on the two I've seen in person (Tornado and Fireball... though their bodies were very different as Tornado was squishy and Fireball hard).

I took pics of Fireball's feet at the convention in October (I'm really sorry - I forget who he belonged to!!) and the Thailand stamp does look different from the others, but that doesn't seem to be hugely unusual with Nirvanas.

I'll have to pop his head off and take a look. I'm not quite sure how to do it...it's been super glued back on. Will boiling work? It looks pretty stuck tight! I've also got to find a way to dissolve the glue that was used on his tail. Scared

I really don't know much about his history except I purchased him from England from a childhood owner who doesn't remember when/where she got him (or the Thailand Thundercloud that SFlame purchased). So he wasn't ever owned by another collector so I'm unsure of when he would have been rerooted. And the owner was most definately not the one who did it (if it is a reroot) as she didn't repair the tail, just glued it back into spot.

Thanks for all the help guys! I'll try to get to work on him soon. Smile

wow he is fabulous Smile

as with everyone else i cannot answer your question about his neck seam Huh if you want to pop his head off i would try boiling to soften the glue Smile as for his tail, try a little bit of acetone, that usually gets rid of super glue.

his hoof marks sound fine to me though Smile

love pkw xxx

Well, his head's off! YAY! And his tail is out, and slightly in rough shape. The metal bit that held it together has snapped in half and the washer was loose as well. I'll have to get the glue out then try to realign it and use the zip tie method to put it back.

As per the mane, I've got no idea! It looks original to me, but honestly I don't really know what I'm looking for. And it's so hard to get a picture of the inside of his head so... Confused
