Personal:
Roughly how old are you? …tch, is this what you really ask a lady first thing? Kidding. I'm 18.
Approxiamately where do you live? State, Country? I live in England.
Do you work or attend school? Profession or major? I'm a first-year animation student who is apparently a pretty good achiever, but it's early days still and I'm still preparing for the worst.
Who are the important people in your life? My family and my best friend IRL, and on the net there's a certain mister who writes
a certain comic combining ponies with D&D. I happen to be the one who got him into ponies. I would consider them most important above all else.
Ponies:
How long have you been collecting? Apparently, a long time ago I owned two G1s from a car boot sale, and since that was back in time immemorial I don't know which ones they were. For my current set of ponies that I can actually declare as a collection, they were bought starting in July, during a trip to California (since at the time G4 was not on sale where I live in the UK).
Which generations of ponies do you collect? G1, G2, G3 or G4? G4, but I've been looking back through generations recently and am very interested in quite a few G3s, all of which have been removed from my local shelves. G3.5 still hovers around, but I'm not very attracted to it. I'd also like a G1… unfortunately the one I want would be Mimic… (When it comes to her,
anime is cheaper…)
What made you want to collect ponies? Definitely
Friendship is Magic which, being such a well-made show, is relevant to my professional interests as well. Though I must have been a little influenced by the fact that I've been riding horses for roughly half of my life, if not more than that. Come to think of it, that might be the reason behind my miniscule peeves with G4, although they seriously don't impact the show's quality.
Tell us about your collection.
As it's only a very recent collection and I'm not a very active person, I only own ten ponies so far. The Mane Six were all bought on the California trip, starting with Rarity and Twilight, then Rainbow Dash, then Fluttershy, Applejack and Pinkie Pie all in one quick burst. By the time we reached the second week all of them were sitting in my bag. As for the other four ponies, two of them (Lily Blossom and Cheerilee) were bought in the space of a fortnight from a Tesco's, and the other two…
…Well, a second Fluttershy and Plumsweet became custom bait for my mother and I, respectively. I have a long mental list of customs I'd like to make with my minor modelling skills. (I'm a bit afraid of ripping off heads to re-hair them, so cutting and modelling seems to work for now at least.)
I also own a G3 Minty keyring but I'm not entirely sure if that counts as an actual collection thing, or just a thing.
My physical collection might be slightly small, but my two-dimensional collection seems to tower over most others. I run a tumblr called
Needs Moar G4 in which I redesign nearly all of the G4 toys that don't have their own artwork. I'm mostly using it as a colour and character design exercise, so I don't much put too much thought into canons or personalities as I'd rather just let visual concepts run free. There's an internet friend, however, who comes up with absolutely stunning backstories in as little as five minutes, so there's... something, I guess.
