Who's good at color palettes?
I've got a Baby Half Note waiting to be de-BBE'd and customized at some point in February. Her hair is a really pretty, silky aqua, but she's missing some plugs and I think I'm going to partially reroot her with DH Snowflake and add some more plugs for one thick streak of Chocolate Pudding.
But I can't figure out what color to paint her body! What do you think would look good with this hair?

Usually when I'm blocking about what color I want, I go ahead and stare at the pony for awhile. I'll do several photoshoots with the hair laying across the body, and then mess around with the body colors in photoshop until i come across one I like.
Either that or I just wait it out. Maybe thinking of some sort of theme or symbol first would make it easier for you to figure out the body color?
don't be afraid to just go for it. Plenty of really awesome customs have come about from just messing around to see what happens.

Mm, Photoshop. I should try that. I already tried the staring thing, but it's been about a month and nothing's coming yet.

What about making her black and white (with a zebra print)?

Could paint her white? Or cream. (Also, my BBE Halfnote is the creepiest pony I own, and I wish I could go your route and pull out her eyes and such, but I'm not allowed. ): )

I like those colors together :3
I guess it all depends on how funky you want to get. You could paint the pony orange to make her really stand out, or you could go the "safe" route and opt for white, cream or even a beige color.
for an example of what orange would look like, it's kind of a reverse of like what I did with this pony: immortalpanda.devianta...4#/d2epct2
Pink would also work in this situation, and you can even do yellow. I did a yellow pony with a related color palette here: immortalpanda.devianta...5#/d45t5km
I say just throw caution to the wind and see what happens. I almost never have a clear plan of what I'm going to do until I'm actually within the process.
good luck!

I think pink would be a good colour to bring it all together! How about mint?

There are already too many pink ponies in the world, lol!
I vote either Dreamsicle Orange, yellow, khaki or a teal to match the haircolor. Good luck!

Hm. Lots of good ideas here, and lots to think about. Thanks for your input, ponies!
Right now I guess I'm vacillating between yellow or orange, and something more analogous to the other colors, in the cool spectrum.

That might look good! I wonder if I'd be able to mix it well enough that it would look more distinct from the aqua hair...

I definitely agree with that one!

Ooo. Oh, I remember seeing that one. God, I love that custom. That just put orange near the top of my list.

Aw. That kinda stinks. Mine was a super grubby bait lot acquisition that looked like it had been buried in a swamp for six or seven years. Cleaned up beautifully — eerily so — but didn't have much in the way of symbols, and isn't worth a whole lot at any rate.
Maybe you could sell her to one of those near-mythical BBE lovers?
