Sorry, the search function isn't working for me at the moment. I got the lovely winger binder from Zazzle for christmas and I'm curious if the wings are based on anything from nature. Are there any bug people out there that can tell me what, if anything, their wings are modeled after?

According to Ponylandpress.com:

I love that binder from Zazzle! For Christmas, my husband bought me the winger iphone case. It is really pretty and I actually have gotten compliments on it.

That's awesome! The fact that they're based on real wings makes me love them even more

Aspiring entomologist here and I was popping in to say something on this but I think I've been beaten to it. Judging by shape they are definitely inspired by real butterflies, but not so much in the color department, lol. I'm sure there's a few pastel colored butterflies but not like wingers!
Ones that jump to mind shapewise are white or yellow cabbage butterflies for the rounder wing shapes, painted lady butterflies have the rougher edges, and the long-ended ones are characteristic of the tiger swallowtail (and other swallowtail butterflies)

Any day where I can talk about wingers is a good day for me!! Their wings are so lovely and the perfect size. I love them all so much (as if you guys didn't already figure that out!)

I actually have a degree in entomology and I'm glad two of the 3 wing types are more realistic than I'd have expected, but colors and venation are totally made up. Again, veins are closer to realistic on those 2 than I would have expected, but not really.
(I still like them though!)

Interesting so the shapes are close but the patterns/coloring are made up? This is kind of what I figured, but thank you for the confirmation! I kind of wish there were some specific species they were accurate to though.
