Yes, this is posted in two forums to get more traffic. I think it's important to get the word out.

I'm sure that you've all read those exposes on eBay and Paypal identity and credit card theft scams.

But this is a reminder to be cautious...my roomate got a scam email from both eBay and Paypal look alikes today.

The Paypal one says "Paypal Account Verification."

The email address is from a Paypal.com account.

The text in the message is an image, and there is invisible junk text under the image. It asks you to go to a URL and re-enter your information. The link appears to be at Paypal.com, but IT IS NOT. And all of the active links go to paypal.com real pages.

Same with the eBay one.

What gave it away to my roomate is that his Paypal account is not registered to Hotmail.

So be careful.

EMAIL ME at dragonfly@mlparena.com if you want me to forward you copies of these so you can see for yourself. Or PM me.

I got one of those the other day, and I forwarded it to spoof @ paypal.com, and they confirmed it was not sent from them. It had been sent to ANOTHER e-mail account of mine anyway and had just been forwarded to my regular account. >.>

Besides, I knew paypal would never tell you that you have to have at least one credit card, because that goes against their policy. (Right? I think so at least.) Meh, stupid scammers. >.>
