Okay, so a few days ago as I was talking on the phone to a fellow arena member I noticed of my Peachies is significantly shorter than my other Italy Peachy. Either I'm going nuts or she's a dwarf. Also her hoof markings are a bit different. Although only 2 are marked, one of the feet has pat pend and the other pony doesn't have that. And one ponies hair is longer and doesn't have a forelock. Maybe Peachy had a growth spurt?

I know there are a number of variations within Italian ponies, and Ros does refer to one type as the dwarf version, but she's way better at explaining that than me Wink

There's an entire set of Italian collector ponies I got used to refer to as "dwarf" ponies. They are shorter thatn other collector ponies, have marks on 2 hooves only (but always have the PAT PEND) and sometimes they have turquoise eyes instead of cyan blue.

There's at least one dwarf variant of each Italian collector pony (Lemondrop and Peachy included) - somtimes more thatn one (e.g. Lemondrop: there's at least one dwarf with the regular symbol and one with the fewer drops symbol)

They are the best manufactured of all Italian collector ponies and the prettiest in my opinion. They are less common than hunchback or even regular shaped Italian ponies.

They also tend to have less factory flaws.

Hope that helps! Smile

Ros, since you are the expert here, I'd like to ask you something! :D Are there dwarf variations of all Italian Collector Pose ponies? The rarer ones too? Probably not?

At first I thought maybe there are dwarf versions of only the original Collector Ponies, but now I got my dwarf Lemon Drop, so that can't be the case! :P (Or is LD just a part of the collector set?)

Also, do you think the dwarf ponies have as much variation as the other Italian Collector Pose ponies? I mean I've already bumped into dwarf LD with normal stamped eyes and mine with airbrushed eyes, and now you say there are also symbol variations.. Phew, collecting all the dwarf ponies might be a bit too much for me! :D

Yes, I found at least a dwarf version of each collector pony (Cotton Candy, Blossom, Bluebelle, Butterscotch, Minty, Snuzzle) and of Lemondrop and Peachy. They are definitely a tad harder to find - and a bit of a puzzle to me.

They look like the Italian counterpart to the FF ponies (althought they have concave hooves), but they were NOT the first Italian set. The first Italian set only included 4 collector ponies (Snuzzle among others, and she was white-bodied instead of grey), and these are "normal" bodied.

I never got to see a dwarf mint in package, but I know they were sold/made after the "normal" ones and before the "hunchback" collector ponies.

Nope, I wouldn't say there are more variants of the dwarfes. I find there are more of the regular ones. Smile (but the dwarves are prettier! :P)

Funny enough, I don't use the airbrushed vs painted eyes as a criterion to discriminate Italian variants. It doesn't tell me enough and I haven't even decided yet it is due to poor quality or whatnot.
In order to be useful, a discriminating criterion should come with as many other typical features as well, while I found eyes to be somehow random, unlike other features. So I usually don't keep eye paint into account.

I typically clssify them according to: mold (there are 4 of them: normal, dwarf, hunchback and "Macau-like"), hoof marks (3 possibilities: on all four, on 2 only with PAT PEND and on 2 hooves without the PAT PEND). symbol (sometimes the design is entirely different, or reverse), and sometimes eye colour (cyan, light blue or teal/turquoise).

Hope that helps! Smile

I have a Peachy and a Lemon Drop that are a lot shorter than the rest. They are not Italian though. I always thought they were just transitional molds after the FF era.

Sometimes on all four, sometimes on two only (with PAT PEND).

They have shorter legs and larger hips. LOL They look like FF ponies, but have concave hooves. Smile

Hope that helps.
