A few weeks back I purchased a lot of ponies on ebay and recieved a curly haired Applejack and Bowtie. I sold Applejack here at the Arena but when I didn't get any takers on Bowtie I decided to try selling her on ebay.
Here's a pic

Apparently by the time I sold her, shipped her and the buyer recieved her those tight curls had loosened. Now the buyer is requesting a partial refund on the purchase price.
My question is this; the final price was $8.50, what would be a fair refund on this pony? She has no marks, her symbols and eyes are perfect, what would have been a fair price if her hair hadn't been as curly?

When I sell ponies with curls, I always state in the auction that the curls may not hold up through the shipping process. I would tell her that you can give her recurling tips, or something maybe. You can also tell her that hairspray is harmful to use so the curls therefore won't last forever. If she's persistent about a refund, I'd say maybe 2 or 3 dollars, but no more than that, IMO.

I don't see why anyone would really want a refund on her. her hair isn't completly straight. Like ashles said try offering her tips and such.

I agree with ashles. Curls have a tendancy to fall out during shipping unless they have hairspray to hold them. Hopefully you can give her some recurling tips, otherwise I'd say no more then $2-$3 is fair for a refund.

I think it depends on how you advertised her. Did you specifically say that you curled her hair? If you claimed that those were the original curls, then I would think a partial refund is necessary. I couldn't tell you how much, though. I haven't gone pony shopping in a long time.
If she hadn't been the curly-haired version, I would have said a partial refund isn't required. I don't think anybody should expect a pony with no original curl to retain curls that sellers put in.

Thank you all, you've been very helpful.
Baby_Katie, I did state in the auction that her hair had been set but this woman says that the reason she was willing to pay $8.50 was for the tight curls.
She is requesting a refund of $2.50. She says that she would have been willing to pay $6.00 for her in her present condition. I don't really want to risk negative feedback over a couple of dollars so I guess I should just give it to her and chalk it up as a learning experience.
Thanks again for your help, it's nice to have people I can turn too for advice on these things.

It sounds to me like you are being blackmailed. There is no guarantee on how curls hold up and she is being cheap in my opinion--and a bully. She is counting on you backing down over the risk of bad feedback.

I agree with PocketPonies. That's completely unreasonable to expect curls by the seller to stay. At least now you know to put a disclaimer in your auctions. Now I know, too.

I agree but I gave her the refund anyway and also offered her some recurling tips.
And believe me from now on I will definately be adding a disclaimer when it comes to curls!
