#1: Rehairing problems? Post here....! Author: darkshines, Posted: 0 ---- I am using method one, folding the hair in half and knotting it. I was under the impression THE KNOT was going through the hole and thats what keeps it in place. But just the hair went through, and the step says:
FOR METHOD ONE USERS: fold plug to where the knot is at one end and the loose end is on the other!
So have I done it right and the knot is just to hold it? If so why does my hair half to be twice as long?

But I use it when I have torn plug holes. I take a section of hair twice as long as I want the finished length to be and I tie a knot in the middle. I don't fold it then tie a knot at one end. Then I use needle and thread to pull the loose end throuh the hole from the inside out if that makes any sense. The knot keeps the hair from coming out of the hole. Are you using the 'tool' to rehair?
#3: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tutorial Author: darkshines, Posted: 0 ---- I'm using a needle and thread:
Theres nothing inside the head to keep the plugs in place though, am I just using glue and happy thoughts?! I have a horrible feeling I am doing this wrong.....
#4: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tutorial Author: sweetlittlejenny, Location: Washington (Georgia is my home state)Posted: 0 ---- when you put the plug through the thread you want to make sure the thread is somewhere from the middle of the plug or a little bit closer to the loose end. If you've knotted the plug at the other end then when you pull the plug through the plug hole the knot will keep the plug in. The knot will be inside the head and the rest of the plug will be outside of the head. How are you knotting the hair?
#5: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tutorial Author: darkshines, Posted: 0 ---- I have no idea what is going on anymore. I have done 4 plugs already, and I will take pics so you can go "omg, what a stupid noob, you are ruining that pony!".....
#6: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tutorial Author: sweetlittlejenny, Location: Washington (Georgia is my home state)Posted: 0 ---- The knot should be in the middle of the hair like this
---------------0--------------- (Dashes being the hair on either side of the knot which is the 0 in the middle.) So then you fold it so the knot is the center point and the hair comes together to make one plug like this 0 =========
Does that make sense? I'm trying to find the tutorial I used but I don't remember which one it was. Its a bit different than the way you're tutorial is.
#7: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tuto Author: darkshines, Posted: 0 ---- I gave up tying a knot, so I just have a length of hair pushed through the loop of thread, which I then pull through the head....
So then I just untie the thread, pull the hair a little back through the head, and I'm going to slather the ends in glue from the inside......
I'm kind "so what do I do now?" after I pulled the hair through......
#8: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tutorial Author: sweetlittlejenny, Location: Washington (Georgia is my home state)Posted: 0 ---- Ok, so if you tie the knot in the middle of the hair you then want to put the plug of hair in the thread like you have but from the neck side of the pony. Then you would just pull on the thread that is sticking out the top of the head and that would pull the plug through the hole. I suppose the way you're doing could work but I think you're making more work for yourself.
I would explain the way I do it but it may confuse you more so I'm searching for the tutorial(cause I can't upload pics at the moment)
#9: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tutorial Author: darkshines, Posted: 0 ---- I should take out the ones I have done and start over?
#10: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tutorial Author: sweetlittlejenny, Location: Washington (Georgia is my home state)Posted: 0 ---- You're saying that the way you've done it there's nothing actually holding the hair in at the moment, right? If so you can leave them there and just put glue in the head once you're done rerooting to hold it all in place. I'm still searching for the tutorial to show you.
#11: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tutorial Author: darkshines, Posted: 0 ---- Right, I took the hair back out, what if I just tied the hair in the middle with a bit of thread then glued it?
#12: Re: Rehairing RIGHT NOW, don't understand a step in the tuto Author: funshinebear, Location: below sea levelPosted: 0 ---- hi,
i think you're rerooting from the wrong side of the head.
i made a (crappy) pic to show what i mean.
with a needle put a loop of thread through the head so that the closed end comes out of the neck and the loose ends stick out of the head
then put a plug into the looped part of the tread that comes out of the neck with the knot on one side and the unknotted part on the other side of the loop (i hope i'm making sense)
then pull on the thread that's coming out of the head. this will pull the plug into hte head and through the plug hole. the knot will remain inside the head and secure the plug
good luck

Ok, here goes. The pics may be huge, sorry if they are.
You shouldn't need any glue if you do it like that.
