Okay so she's not the first custom I planned but one night while I was doodling I came up with this really neat design that I thought would make an interesting symbol and since I was waiting on a dollyhair order and had little bits of free time here and there I thought I'd flesh out the idea use it as a space filler and do her with embroidery thread hair since its easy to get a hold of fast. This is what I came up with. The idea was to use jewel tones and as many crystals as possible without getting too terribly gaudy... so I named her Jemma (as in GEM-stone) as Jewel seemed a bit too obvious.

(Please excuse the ugly background thingy... just didn't want to have to upload a million different pix)

Don't ask me what the base was, number one because I have no idea, and number two because she's too different ponies (I did the head first with paint and crystals and baked a bracelet onto her body second before I painted it... note to self... always bake heads and bodies together because apparently neck holes SHRINK!). She was airbrushed with createx pearlized purple and detailed with thinned folkart metallic acrylics; set with testors dullcote clear. Hair is a blend of metallic and regular embroidery thread (didnt want it to be too terribly shiny because of all the shiny details). Crystal accents are genuine swarzovski and the pendant is baked and gold-painted sculpey with inset crystals. Eyes and symbol were glazed with triple thick.

ETA: Please... I really want to improve. Constructive criticism is very welcome.

Thanks for the comments guys! The purple really did turn out well. Like I said in the first post, it was Createx Airbrush paint in pearlized purple... no fancy shmancy name... just pearlized purple. It went on pretty flawlessly and it was really nice not to have to thin it.

I love all the colors!

I would like to see bigger pics, esp of her hair. It looks like dreadlocks, and I'm curious how you acheived that with embroidery thread. Smile

Beautiful! I love deep purple colors; they are my favorite. I usually am not big on embroidery thread hair, but it looks really good here!
