When I started work on my first custom, I wanted to draw out my ideas, but I suck at drawing. I found the idea of "design blanks" on one tutorial, but found that most of black and white hasbro art doesn't match the poses of the actual ponies, and pose is an important part of the conceptual stage for me. I have seen some people use photographs and then trace over them in paint or photoshop, but my hand isn't that steady with a mouse.
I have found my own solution (found a way to create my own despite limited skill on y part) but I am curious, what do you do?
Also... now that I am making my own blanks, I wondered if I should post them? Would anyone else besides me be interested in them? I've got one down below if anyone wants to see how they came out.

I could use them. I could never draw ponies or any equine animal very well. And the Hasbro linearts confuse me if I am for example using a sitting pony lineart and customizing a Sweetberry pose pony. These would be perfect.

That is really good. I'm sure some customizers would find them quite useful.

I would love to have access to design blanks in actual pony poses!
That is a brilliant idea and so nice of you to offer to let others use them.

Wow! I wasn't expecting so much interest in them. Thanks! I'm really happy that they will be useful. They take me a long time to make, and it would be such a waste if I were the only one who ever used them .
Here's another one, a G1 this time. On the blanks I've included all ponies I'm aware of that share the pose to make it easier to find bait.
Unfortunately on some poses, I wasn't able to find as clear a picture to build the blanks from, so the quality will not always be as good as the valenshy blank (I had a nice crisp photo to work from). As I find newer/better photos, I may go back and remake these.
Finally, a very important question! I eventually plan to make blanks for ALL of the G1 and G3 poses, but that will take a while, so I am starting with the ones I have bait for. After that though, I am open to suggestion.
Anyone have any requests for which poses they would most like to see blanks for? Pegasus, Unicorn, baby, whatever, it doesn't matter. Just let me know, and after I've finished with the ones I'm working on now, I'll just make them in the order requested.

I normally dont need to fully color/sketch a pony, body and all.... but if I do, I'll simply put the pony down against the paper, trace, and work from there. Either way, it works well, really. My notebook is so full of ideas and random doodles, sketches, symbols, eye designs... its insane. lol

It's very kind of you to do this. I only have one generic blank to work from, but multiple poses are a great idea. The blanks are especially handy for intricate designs.
Perhaps I could suggest a full frontal blank of one pose. So if any designs need to be made on the face or the chest you can see how they'll wrap around. Or maybe a behind blank too for that matter.

Ohhh! I love them! I'd love to see some more...it would really help me out when I'm trying to design customs to have peoples make for me! LOL! I'm always making them off of coloring sheets, but that gets tiresome because they aren't the right pose so I can't ever figure out what pony to make them out of! LOL!
I would LOVE to see more! (Especially the pegasus poses and baby poses!)
