what people's art/custom/work area looks like? How do you have it setup to work most effectively? I don't have one at all, really. My laptop is on the arm of the couch next to "my cushion" XD and all my ponies/art stuff/paints/etc are in front of me, one the floor, coffee table and in a little plastic roller drawer thing. I have to have a USB light to help me see cos it's dark even with all our lights on. Yeah, not good. Sometimes I can barely get up without tripping. I'm looking into and art table from Ikea that has a build in lightbox o_O Ohhh-awww. I have very little space and I wanna try to keep all my art in the living room cos I hate being confined away, like in the bedroom when the TV, computer and BF are in the living room. So, how do y'all do it? Especially in small spaces? Pics would be soo awesome to see! Thanks!

heh, my set-up (if you can call it that) sounds exactly like yours-- minus the organization of the drawers! When I've been working on a custom the whole couch ends up covered in supplies And yet I have 2 desks/tables where I could work... I guess I just like to be in the middle of things, I like to be right there in the living room while I'm playin' with customs.

I work mainly at my Florida/family room coffee table, LOL. I keep ponies in progress up on the entertainment center up top where nobody will bump them.
Connected to that room from an arch is my large dining room and I also work at the dining room table occasionally but I prefer the family room because I can sit on the floor and get REALLY close to my work. And when I rehair, I move up to the couch and keep my hair on the armrest and the other hair as needed on the coffee table.
If it's a table, it's mine, LOL. And like you, I CAN"T stand feeling isolated or alone so I DON'T work in small places

i actually have an art/music studio in my basement...its a finished area that covers half the length of my house...so prolly about 600 sq ft....thats also where i have my pony collection as well...it has a couch and a daybed and a tv and stuff too...the only problem is that when we switched from cable tv to satellite, we didnt get it for my studio tv as i wasnt spending a ton of time down there and it would have been like $10 extra per month...so now...that i finally have a bunch of projects to work on...i dont want to be down in the basement cuz i dont really have any tv reception...so i'm taking over our kitchen table and then in the evenings after my son goes to bed...i use a tv tray in our living room...lol

I do all of my art in my bedroom xD I have a big plastic box in my closet with some of my supplies as well as a big priority mail box with my baits in it as well as a smaller box with some WIP ponies in it. Then on the floor I have a lap desk and a little basket filled with tools, paints, and paintbrushes. I also have a couple of ziplock baggies of ponies that just need to get started (in the bag is the bait, a reference picture, hair if they need it and other small accessories :))

You know what I've found handy? A workshop pegboard system..... They are made of plastic now and they are awesome, expandable and you could even paint the white plastic to pink or something, LOL.
Hair baggies on hooks, little bins on the board for parts and tonssss of hooks for everything, baggied or not
My hubby's idea and if I need an idea, my hubby knows what accessory to buy for the pegboard. I took the pegboard down tho for the house remodel and now I need to put it back up as everything is boxed (thus the lack of customs right now, LOL)

i have an office/ponyroom/ferret room --- but its such a mess most of the time, and I prefer to sit and watch TV while I paint and customize that most of my work is done in the corner of the couch (next to my laptop) while watching TV with my hubby. I have my huge rolling tool box sitting near the couch - and all my custom supplies are in there ^^

All my painting I do at the kitchen table and I generally rehair while sitting on the couch, it's much more comfy. Generally customs in work are on the mantel of the fireplace so the kitties don't eat them, they love ponies. All my paints are in a large coffee container which is starting to spill over lol.. I have to actually get organized but it'll only end up messy in a little while anyways.

Mine work area is wherever I happen to be and want to work. I've done my desk, kitchen table, at raijha's, at work. LOL My drying ponies sit on the top most tray of my desk trays - which is covered paper towel.

here is my "studio". I have a big desk in the corner of my living room and I keep all my extra ponies and stuff in the huge closet next to the desk. you can see on the right side there is an extra set of drawers, I keep extra pony hair brushes, bigger crafty things and shipping envelopes in the bottom. I love having all the drawers for all my rit dye, extra hair tinsel, paint, brushes, sealant ect all at arms reach. I usually paint at the cofee table so I keep all my paint on a plate (see photo) so I can move it easily. this was a really great trick, the paint takes up more room than my other supplys, so it is nice to be able to just pick them all up and get them out of the way. my sewing machine is within reach, you can see in the corner next to it is the place I stack my heads while the glue drys after they have re-haired. I have a small garbage bag on the wall on the left. the second pic is my hair on a cork board. I love my studio
