I think I found this site's link here somewhere (can't remember now) for making doll hats. I made one following the directions first to see how it turned out (so I have a lone doll hat that won't even fit a baby pony). It was easy to then alter the pattern to fit ponies.
Millinery In Miniature Tutorial link
First up was Chief, who I practiced on to learn how to make a Gatsby cap for Spot in the Musicial Pony Swap. Sugarberry models a smart little grey number (doesn't match, but its what I had on hand).
The bonnet is my favorite! It was supposed to be for a baby pony, but I made it too big and it only fits Periwinkle! Too bad it doesn't match her, but doesn't she look darling?
Fun with lace for Dancing Butterflies and an attempt to make a non-fitted top on TAF Sundance.
What'cha think?

Those all turned out fabulous! I think my fave is the lace-fringed hat modelled by Dancing Butterflies.

Thanks everyone. I had a crazy hat binge for about a week. I have a few more that I'm thinking of doing just for fun.
