|
Hey All!
I has a stupid question for everyone! I just got the pony that I'm going to try to customize, and I'm trying to figure out somethign about the rehairing...
I'm going to be using a re-hairing tool, because everyone says it's easier. It looks easier, that's for sure. But, with the new pony heads, how do I get in there to run a line of glue on the new hair? I've already been able to take the head off, and put it back on, but the hole seems awfully narrow, and I don't want to cut it off, because I'd like to preserve being able to turn her head.
So, any advice for a beginner?
Thanks in Bunches!

the best thing to do or at least what I do is I make the hole a little larger with an exacto knife. The neck rings still intact just the holes bigger and your able to run a line of glue down the hair.
I hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense! I think I'll try doing that...it would def. be easier than jimmy-rigging a long funnel/tube for my glue, lol!
You saved me again Amy!

Hee hee! Just got it done!
But, since I didn't have an exacto knife, I used something else...
I had an pair of sewing shears that were not longer sharp enough for fabric, but still had a decent edge. They worked perfectly! Although now it looks like I've been wittling soap! LOL!
Thanks all!

LOL, I may be doing that too! I got it widened pretty well, but I'm afraid of widening it too much!
BTW, should I use Tacky Glue, or Elmers Glue? I thought it was the tacky....
Confused at a new process

I use a hot glue gun usually. Though tacky glue also works really well. I'm just impatient sometimes I don't want to wait for it to dry so thats why I just use the hot glue gun lol.

You can also get a needless syringe from a pet supply store (for feeding animals) and use it to get the glue up there.

I use hot glue because it dries fast and it's easy to get it in there. Plus it has never dribbled through teh plugs and gotten the hair messed up xD

Because i'm weird, i dont like to break the neck rings like that, because i like to give the head a bit more stability when i glue them back on (unless they are the fun ones that you can move thier head around, then you dont have to glue anything back!) SO what i do is pour a bunch of tacky glue onto paper or something, and then swipe the inside of the neck with a cotton swab. I wouldnt bother going and buying the extra long ones, i just use the normal kind and it works just fine! Just make sure you dont press too hard against the hair, cause there is a chance that the glue could leak through the plug holes and that makes a big mess X___X

Hot glue FTW!
If you can't quite reach because of the head's angle, you can squeeze some hot glue onto the end of an old paintbrush and poke that in there. That's how I glue the tail if I want extra stability.
