I was thinking maybe they're doing a MLP "Kids" like what the Care Bears is doing now. This time the ponies get more personality because they have their own hairstyle. Cheerilee and Toola Roola's hair looks hilarious! I like Starsong's new wings. I think little girls will love them. I think they're an interesting experiment with the Core 7, however a little disappointed because the "kids" idea has been done by many toy lines by now, so it's nothing original from Hasbro. I would be interested in getting a pony or two with those looks ^^

As for the rejected art, nah...looks too much like Bratz with the coloured muzzle.

in what the artist said... it seams hasbro just asked this girl and two others to do a special poster for this, one time only thing.... so like a unique poster... NOT pony art... or concept art for future ponies....she just works in the design and development..... this was just a unique poster for the trade show...

heres what the artist says:

Quote::
I apologize for the lack of updates. I have been working deep in development on Hasbro's "My Little Pony" for several months now, developing their new line up for '09. A few weeks ago, three of us (on the Pony crew) were tapped to collaborate on a trade show poster. And so, here is the end result.

I take credit for the character design while Kathy Carr and Sean Platter lent their layout and digital painting awesomeness on this project. If you're wondering why the upper left-hand corner looks somewhat blank, the space is actually alloted for the official "My Little Pony" logo.

(and if that's really for '09, I'm surprised the line is expected to survive that long)

Ewwww!! Ponytails and pigtails!!! Shakes Head

This would be really cute for the Ponyville line, but if this is for the whole MLP line it's just gonna give us collectors another thing to whine and complain about! Laugh

Well, this could be a one-time thing, but why would they need to ask some artist to work on a development of the MLP line for 09, and then use this style just once? I mean they already have their MLP style, wouldn't it be easier to just use what they have instead of paying money to think something up for just one time? Poke Tounge

perhaps they're seeing the success that LPS had, with their big ginormous watery eyes, and trying to replicate that?

Well one thing is for certain now there will be ponies in 09 and it will be the core 7.

Maybe they are planning a tv show for them?? Based on the desgins and the fact they are trying to give them all personalities I think we have new shows to look forward to in the future.

I don't think they are going to physically change ponies and their looks, just possibly the artwork. They are kind of cute actually. I like the hair all except for Toola Roola's. The only thing that bothers me Toola's hair. IT IS SO UGLY! Why did they do that?
