PostPosted: 0    Post subject: Naming Pullips?

I've noticed it seems like most people give their Pullips new names when they buy them. I find this slightly odd myself; nothing wrong with it, it's just that as a pony collector (and care bear and rainbow brite collector) I am so used to calling my toys by the names they came with -- I couldn't imagine calling Baby Lofty anything other than Baby Lofty, ya know?

Well, as I posted in another thread, I ordered mini Pullips Riletto and Cheshire Cat. At first I considered keeping their original names, but I don't think they sound so great, personally. So, I just want to hear some of the names you have given to your Pullips, and what inspired you to give them those names. I'm hoping maybe you can give me some ideas; I want mine to have unique names but I just really have no idea where to begin!

Thanks in advance Smile

Mine (Zurora) came named when I bought her, Opium. I thought the name fit, although Ophelia is growing on me...

And this is Ella (Purezza). She just seemed so sassy to me.

I think dolls have a definable personality.

Kylee Rose - A character of mine before I ever bough my doll, and she looked liked my kylee character, so she got the name.

Allie - Short for Alligator Smile

Hannah Alexis - I don't even really know... I didn't name her until she got to me, but I think I just thought, Hangry... Hannah... and then Tagged alexis on the end because A) I told my friend lexi I'd name a doll after her, and B) it had a nice ring to it Smile

Kimi - my little one you hardly ever see Smile CrazyKimochi from the pullip communities helped me buy her, and she's one of my best friend. So my leprotto was named Kimi after her Smile

Tyler Amaretto - (have you guys seen Ty's new look yet? I don't know if you have or not) I was...friends with? involved?....w/e with a guy named Tyler when I bought her, and I really liked tyler for a girls name, so we called her that Smile and then I was working in an Italian restaurant at the time and we had a \"Raspberry Amaretto Cheesecake\" that was heavenly, and I stole a slice from work the day I got her XD so I was like AMARETTO! because I'm Tyler Raspberry just doesn't sound right, and Tyler Cheesecake sounds cannibalistic.

Fallon O'Hara - strangely also named after I guy I knew. He went to school with me from elmementry till we graduated high school, and his last name was fallon, my last name came right after it so we were ALWAYS sitting next to eachother for EVERYTHING. He went by his last name and I always thought it'd be a nice name for a girl. And my alte came along, I stuck the fur wig on her that I got from AppleCrisp and voila, she had the same spunk \"fallon\" did, so she became Fallon. And O'Hara was stolen from \"Gone With the Wind\" and just tacked on the end because it had a nice ring Smile

**edit: Got a little carried away and started talking about my BJDs oh well, same naming concept. They came with names too.***

Jacob Andrews - But I call him Jake! same thing as Kylee. He was part of that story too. I'm trying to make him more of the Jake from my story though. It's a little difficult though, but we'll see.

AND FINALLY!
I'm saving for this pretty girl:

She's already been named Rini - Why?
Because she looks like what I imagine Rini would looking like if Sailor Moon was real.
I have a real life friend named Rini, who's a bit creeped out by the fact that I "named my doll after her", so Rini's name might change, but for now, I think it fits Smile

Furthermore, I also have picked out names for future dolls XD

Angry - she will be Anna Alexis, to go with Hannah Smile
Chill - Alex *insert middle name here* - Because she HAS to be my friend Lexi, HAS to be.

Tuneful got her name after the Rockin' Beat pony. Smile I thought it fit her since she's originally My Melody and I thought it still fit with the music theme.

Veruca (originally Celsiy) I got from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (except I spelled it wrong, not on purpose, just 'cause I'm a doofus that can't spell). I thought it really fit her since she's a total spoiled brat. Roll Eyes

My next doll (who is temporarily hanging out at Sunny's house) is named Satine. She's a very sexy doll, and she needed a sexy name to go with the attitude. No pics of her yet, though.

I think people like giving their dolls their own names to make them more unique, to make them "their" doll, especially because people tend to customize their dolls with new eye chips, wigs, clothes, etc. I tend to name my dolls based on the personalities I give them.

As for my dolls, I need new profile pictures, but here they are-

Cinni, which is short for Cinnamon. She's really the troublemaker of the group, she's named after a role play character I have, she got that name from her character, and her hair.

This is Rachel, and the name just seems to fit her sweet personality.

Kate, short for Katelyn, she's more prim and proper, so I wanted a named that sounded that way.

Aggy, short for what she is, an Aggonya. Poke Tounge

Samantha, which is based off another role play character I have. She's the eldest of all my dolls, very soft and gentle, so her look reflects that.

Seeing as how the only Pullips I have are Rozen dolls, bought specifically because of the characters they represent....I've not even considered re-naming them. It actually annoyed me (fully, irrationally) to see girls on PS renaming them.

Before I was a Pullip person, I also found it weird that other people were naming their dolls.. lol
BUT, I get it now.. mostly b/c these girls (and guys) really do have a personality all their own. Thats also why I can't name her til she gets here. I got Cornice from ebay second hand and when she got here and I fixed her up, she was cute and sassy, so I named her Romie Laugh I've always thought that was a cute name and it fits her now:

Xiao Fan came to me at Christmas and it took me a couple days to decide her name. But the more I looked at her, the more I knew she was to have a sweet, soft calm personality.. I mean, srsly- lookit her face! So her name is Zen:

I have Prunella on the way and try as I might, I just cant seem to think of anything fitting for her, lol..

Here's a pic of Nina's smexy dollie Satine. She's staying with my girls til my mini-me Dani gets to her house.. then we'll make the switch, lol

PostPosted: 0    Post subject: Re: Naming Pullips?

I think the reason I change names is cause the names just don't always fit.
Pony names I keep the same....usually they match the symbol...make some sense to me (usually)....but with each doll there seems to be a personality, and the factory name doesn't always fit (specially when you start changing wigs, and eye chips and such)

my girls...
Jupi....i kept her name, cause it fit. She's the sultry princess type...with big....attitude. LOL

(Celsiy) Jasmine \"Jazz\" is totally one of those spunky, fun loving girls who's parent's gave her a sweet girl name, but she prefers something short with more pep.

(Prunella) Emmarie \"Em\". In all honesty when I go her, I wanted an \"Em\"...I looked for names that could use Em as a nick...and Emmarie was fitting. She's the sweet one.

(Panda) I had a list of names I liked, and I was asking everyone....so many people said Luna fit her...so thats what she got! I do think it fits her well. She is soft and 'big sister' like...and a little bit of a hippie.

(RIDa) Alice. When I saw RIDa on PS I immediately thought of a character from a book...and Alice is one of my favorites (in this book, and in Wonderland...so double duty) Alice is saucy and will tell you exactly what she thinks.
(the blue is her 'transitional' wig.....we are impatiently waiting for the new one to come in *looks at Alice tapping her foot* )

and finally my newest (Stica) Zafrina. (she is getting a new wig too) She needed a vampire name....i narrowed it down...and i liked this one. She is sassy and mysterious.

*nods in agreement* pretty much what everybody else has said...the stock name fits the stock doll, but as soon as you get her/him home and start making changes, it's like their own little personalities emerge. Most of mine are named after characters from books or mythology...

James, Lucy, Irina - Characters from the Twilight saga
Nathaniel, Asher - from Anita Blake series
William, Lex - from tv/comics
Nissa, Corrigan - faerie lore
Jilly is named after a friend, Sapphire and Opal are named after their hair colors (LOL), Penelope just sounded cute.....

I won't post pics of them all because there are too many, but here are a few:

Izzy is my fave spunky little girl...like jupi's Jazz, she's one of those who's parent's gave her a pretty girly name (Isabel) but she was having NONE of that and she shortened it a bit. lol

Piper is my Prunella...because most people call her Pru for short and Pru always makes me think of \"Charmed\"...and whenever I think Pru, I think Piper! hahahaha....i swear, there's a logic train there somewhere....

Anne-Marie is my Paja - she's just such a sweetheart, it seemed to fit her quiet, demure personality...

Zephyr = Wind....pretty simple there Happy

Oona is the name of a faerie queen from MTG

Cooper and Sophia - his name just sounds like he should be a hottie, and she is a sophisticated girl...don't you dare call her Sophie. lol!

I tend to rename everything. XD My first Pullip I'll have coming is going to be a custom, based on my Silent Hill OC, Cheri -

ladyvincira.deviantart...-106197584 - No pictures of the Pullip yet, but this is a pic of the character. ^^

The next Pullip that I hope to get is Grell Sutcliff - who will keep his (yes, HIS, the March Pullip Grell is actually made after a male, crossdressing character XD) name, because he'll remain that character. ^^
