This is not meant to be offensive in anyway and I'm truly sorry if for some reason it is. I'm just really curious. This question is mostly regarding those of us in the US. I've noticed that where I live, I've only ever seen little caucasian girls looking at, carrying around, or buying ponies. I live in a very multicultural city, so there are alot of different races here. I'm a little confused by it I guess. I know that different races tend to have different cultures even when all in the same area, but still. Ponies just don't seem to catch the eye of non-white races here. I was wondering if for some unknown reason it's just that way here or if it's like this across the US. Then I'm even more curious as to why it's that way. Ponies just seem like wonderful interesting toys for all children to me. Could it be poor marketing? Still, you'd think the kids would see them and want them.

In my area, it seems like a lot of the hispanic little girls love the ponies. Not being racist or anything again, but that seems to be the demographic in my city and area. Even DH says that little hispanic girls love ponies!

That's good to hear at least! I was really starting to wonder. Maybe it's just my area then. I just couldn't understand how ponies didn't appeal to all little girls. It really never occured to me until recently that it was possible other cultures' little girls might not love ponies. It's nice to find out that might not actually be the case.

they do sell round here (latin american country) where a like super big in the 80's and sell pretty good also now a days, the problem is that they bring waaay to much fakies lol, but yeah you do see little girls round with their ponies or fakies, and in the pony aisle.

Same here. I don't really pay attention to the color of people's skin when I'm out and about, I just see people, but digging back into my memory I can recall seeing little Hispanic girls attracted to ponies.

Well, probably Maori and Pacific Islanders... considering I live in a Pacific Island. *shrug* I don't pay attention or leap on people to demand if they are Samoan or not.
Other than that, people!

I think all little girls love ponies :). But here it is most caucasian. I think it really depends on where you live...

I've never really noticed, and I live in a very mulit-cultural area. Lots of Asians, Indians, Middle-Easterners, and Hispanics. I assume the ponies around here must have crossed the international borders, so to speak!

Good question... I've only always seen Caucasian girls looking at, carrying, buying, playing with, etc... ponies. There are plenty of other cultures in my area, so it's odd, to say the least.
My sister nannies for a family in Dallas; their kids are gorgeous little girls, part African American and part Israeli. They LOOOOVE ponies, but never knew about them until my sister got them some.

Caucasian girls from what I've noticed but I don't pay attention anyway. I'm too busy looking @ the ponies themselves !
Poke Tounge
& Whenever I'm in the aisle I'll be like "Yeah I have this 1, this 1 ..." & all the little girls look up at me like "Whoa ... you play with ponies ?!"
XD;;;
Gotta love that.

I don't think it is a racial trend so much as an socioeconomic one. Unfortunately more caucasians (for reasons much to lengthy to discuss here) seem to occupy the higher brackets and are the ones most likely to buy a brand new pony from Target or Walmart. The lower brackets seem to buy used ponies at the thrift store/flea markets/yard sales or get them from cousins or siblings that have gotten tired of ponies.

Y'know, I find it so funny that we can't talk about different races without fear that we're going to be considered racist....

But to be perfectly honest, the only girls I see on the pony aisles around where I live are white. Because they're me. Silly Practically every time I'm on a pony aisle, its always deserted except for myself and my fiance. Its like I have an anti-kid force field that stretches 30 feet in either direction while pony shopping XD This is particularly true at the thrift store. There's NEVER kids around when I hit the thrift store. (and I'm kind of glad for it =x)

Anyway, I don't think its a race thing, I think its more of an area thing. It just depends on what groups of people are concentrated in which areas. =3 But lets face it, EVERYONE should love ponies Wink
