PostPosted: 0    Post subject: Sea pony clam shell question

Hi everyone,

I have a strange question! I have been looking through the price check archives wondering how much a clam shell for my Wave Dancer would go for, and then looking at pictures I started wondering if shells came in two pieces you had to assemble, or just one. I know they tend to miss the succion cup and it some times leaves a hole in the back of the shell.

That aside, can the upper and lower clams normally be taken appart? Should I be worried if I see a clam shell for sale that looks disassembled?

Thank you for the feedback, I'm just really curious!

You are right, the clam shells do come apart into two pieces Smile The top part and the bottom part separate at the L joint Smile

If you see one taken apart, just make sure that you can get a pic from the seller of the parts put together to make sure nothing is broken. The clam shells are pretty tough, and I've never seen one that was broke.

Thank you! It is appreciated!

It is a wonder though that so many shells are found complete. One would guess it would be difficult to find them with all pieces put together. I wonder if people find half shells some times!

They don't really come apart easy, you do have to work on them to get them apart Smile So once they are together, I am sure most people don't want to put that much work into taking them apart again Smile

I would put the shell value at about $8 or $10. The first set of shells is the most common and they are pretty easy to come by. The 6 shells from the second set are pretty pricey though.

There's a great site about sea ponies here:

Soon to be here but she hasn't transferred everything over yet:
