I've been selling for a long time and have dealt with many a time-waster. Generally they ask to hold stuff for a long time, and then never commit to sending payment. Therefore, I usually don't leave feedback for them, because the transaction never was really finalized. But this time is a bit different.
In this instance, someone messaged me about a pony, and after I told them the shipping costs, they told me they /definitely/ were going to buy the pony. I responded with my paypal info, and their response was that they didn't have paypal. They are also in the US, so I gave them my address and told them to send a USPS money order. They promised to send it to me the very next day. I said "That sounds great, please note that due to time-wasters I've deal with in the past I do not hold items for more than 10 days; since you are just a few states away from me the mail shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 days, but please do make sure it will reach me within the next 10 days." They assured me it would be sent the very next day.
Well, surprise surprise, 10 days later, and no more PMs from them, and no MO. I PMed them asking when it was sent. Turns out, it never was, and this person now says "It would be best to cancel the transaction at this point." Since the first several PMs between us (asking about shipping and payment info, etc) took about 6 days, I have now been holding this pony for them for more than 2 weeks. I've been checking my mailbox daily, expecting to find a MO. And now after all that, this person just says nevermind, let's cancel the transaction?? Heh, I guess you can tell I'm a bit upset about it.
Anyway, should I leave feedback? I would just leave a neutral and explain that the person told me a MO was in the mail, but then after 10 days of no communication I had to PM them to find out it was never sent and they no longer wanted the pony. Right now this person has 4 feedbacks, all of them positive.

Well, letting people know who they are potentially dealing with is the best policy. Honest feedback doesn't mean nasty feedback which I think some people equate it to. Looking at alot of issues in TS if honest feedback had been left in the first place instead of taking the 'nice' approach, alot of time-wasters, scammers and general rotten apples could have been nipped in the bud early. It seems a common theme that when someone is exposed/banned/put on the blacklist, that many members come out of the woodwork saying "well, uh, this happened to me but I didn't want to rock the boat". If you feel appropriate feedback is warranted then I also suggest you approach them and outline why you are leaving it (If they can't work it out lol!). I think some people think that RL rules don't apply to ponies, but it is a business and monetary transaction nevertheless. Best of luck and I hope that pony goes to a worthy home!

If they promised to pay and did not, then that is definitely somethig to be expressed. Nothing wrong with telling someone no, but overstretching oneself and leaving people in the lurch certainly is.

I would leave feedback, I had someone do that to me
and when I finally got ahold of them, well guess what...unexpected expense, things happen, they happen to all of us and we still keep our commitments. I would want to know.
I left feedback, it was their first transaction here and they totally blew it.
We don't need the mentality that a lot of ebay buyers have at the Arena. And I have noticed there are a lot of people who join, buy and then they are never heard of again here, so I would leave Honest Feedback so the next seller knows.

I had a buyer do that to me last year, a new member that disappeared as soon as the sale fell through. She claimed twice she sent the money order, but wasn't upset in the least that her money was getting lost in the mail. That's usually a sign that it was never sent in the first place. I've had it happen with long time members too, and it's even more annoying then.
My new rule-Once someone has told me that they are sending a payment, or give a date they will send it, I consider us to be in an actual transaction. So if they don't pay, lie about it, or flake out on me in any other way, I leave honest feedback. I think other sellers need to know about all the time wasters out there.

I'd definitely leave fb. It can really save others from going through the same process. Some buyers simply aren't reliable and shouldn't have sellers jumping through all those hoops for them to end in a nothing transaction.
Sorry you were mucked about so much.
