Omg, the description says that there's rumors that only around 10 are left in existance? What? There's no way..... I just find that unrealistic, tbh.
And, omg ladybird!!! I prob wouldn't even get her in my dreams! Not unless someone drops $2700 on the floor and I find it, lol.

The problem with those kind of speculations is NO ONE has any way to prove that. I mean maybe in the pony community we know of about 10 left MIP or something, but if we KNOW about 10, then there have to be more out there that we don't know about. Of course in this instance I have no clue how likely that claim is or not, but that's not the point. Speculations like that just annoy me. Don't list numbers as if they are facts when they are really just guesses.

And I also agree that the claim about there only being 10 in existance is unfounded. It's funny, isn't it, that there are actually quite a few ponies and variations (factory errors?) in which only 1 or a small number are known to collectors, but that doesn't mean that there aren't more out there that won't surface in time. Somewhere in Greece, in a forgotten basement or warehouse, there could be a whole box of MIP Ladybugs just gathering dust. --or getting moldy (shudder to think)! But the funny thing is that those ponies don't necessarily sell for $2K+. I actually think that having a very small but not TINY number of known specimans makes the pony more desirable to collectors because it represents an elite level of collecting. But if there are only 1 or 2 known at all, then it's practically unattainable; why even bother wishing for ones like that? Maybe that why some of those sell for around $500.

And then there's the fact that Ladybug is ADORABLE which boosts any pony's value!

She's adorable but wow, I'd have so much guilt spending anything near that number on a toy! Eep.

But seriously she is cute.

Somebody could find 20 of those sitting on a dusty shelf tomorrow and the "just 10" claim would be shattered.

Well, someone nab the auction photos so we've got a record of what Ladybugs are out there and have been found. I regret not saving the last Ladybug shots I saw as she is so cute!

I giggle at the number claims. As soon as more surface, her price will crash. I'm half-wanting a whole box of them to turn up so I may have a chance of ever owning her at some point.

Well guys we have to understand that she is rare and if the seller is saying "only 10 KNOWN to exist" then that statement is not necessarily false. your accusing the seller of falsely claiming that there are only ten but if the statement they makes is only saying thats what the community knows to exist then that is a truthful statement.

Yeah there may be 3,000 mimics lying in some abandoned factory somewhere, but that doesnt make her any less desirable or rare does it? when someone lists any rare pony like Mail order rapunzel for high amounts its not just cause they decided there are only so many, its all speculation among the internet community of collectors. This can be said with any fandom/Collector fanbase. Yes there is No way to "prove" without a shadow of a doubt the number in existance, but the information and facts of the matter are that at this time what we know is that she is in very short supply obviously.

I would love it if a bunch were found of greek ladybird (im not expecting to own her anytime soon til that happens lol!) but you guys never know what you can aquire thats the beauty of collecting!

I myself aquired (from a very awesome member here!) a very rare (and known to be ONE of a kind) item in the Vintage littlest pet shop community and the internet so far. No one has found a single one other than the item i have. But if i was to ever sell it (not likely i hope!) it would not be a false claim saying that its known to be the only one in existance, just becuase of the possibility that there are hundreds of them hiding in some basement or something.

*hugs* Just remember collecting in any form is all about speculation of rarity, almost nothing can be proven fully. the market deems fit what another collector is willing to pay for an item.

Oh wow.... She looks so beautiful! I could totally see someone taking out a personal loan for that. lol Not quite sure how the bank would react to borrowing money for a pony. =P

The seller has a business to run, they never said there was exactly less than ten, they said 'rumours say'. If I had a business to run (an ebay store that moves as much merchandise as this IS a business), and I heard 'rumours' that only ten of something existed and I was selling it, I would so mention that.

Yikes! lol that's quite a price. What does this ladybird pony look like anyway? Uber rare ponies always fascinate me.

babylicketysplit is completely right....i would be surprised if on this or any other pony boards 10 people could raise their hands to owning one...i think i have only seen 2 for sale and know of 1 person who has one mint-in-egg...for all we know the seller is right...it was an incredibly limited run and due to the factory issue there are not very many around or i think likely to surface any time soon....i do wish i could have the egg for mine its lovely!

look at the price she goes for loose...while $2700 is a lot of money...we are collectors of vintage toys and we need to accept that people will understandably want to pay high prices for such rare items

until that "supply" of mie ladybirds is found, i think the seller can claim the rumour...you would need to be a collector to drop this kind of money and you would need to be aware of ladybirds background so i dont think any claims will mislead anyone who is going to bid or buy
