If so, did your pony reek of smoke? Just wondering. The pony got here in RECORD time but I could smell her through the packaging. The seller says she doesn't do returns or refunds, but nothing was said about this pony smelling so bad in the auction. I don't want to send her back, really, so what should I do?

It could be they didn't notice the smell. I smoked for 14 years before quitting 2 years ago (luckily before I started collecting ponies) and until I quit, I never noticed anything of mine smelling like smoke. Once I quit, I cleaned everything I could and got rid of things that couldn't be cleaned because I couldn't stand the smell. If the seller is a heavy smoker like I was, they probably just didn't notice it or even really think about it. I know I didn't.

There are a few ways to get rid of smoke smell, granted it may have seeped into the plastic but if it's a pony you want to keep, you could try a method I used to get smoke smell out of some old books.
Kitty litter. Put pony in bag in a close container and fill said container with litter. Not the wood shaving or newspaper kind. Put the pony in a bag before you put her in the litter.
Baking soda might work too. Just an open box in a container next to her. It does wonders for stinky kitchen and fridge!

This happened to me once when I bought a pony off ebay. I kept it but but it in a ziplock bag with coffee and it worked wonders. Good luck!

I read this thread the other week, and just now realized I bought from her.
I won a couple Fairy Tails birds and had them shipped to a friend, and she got them today and told me they smell of smoke. One of them especially smells quite bad. The seller also forgot to mention one of the birds hair is almost balding and she packaged them very strangely.
Sorry to hear that happened to you too... she really should mention stuff like that. Though I'm not to worried since they only cost $10 with shipping.

I saw those birds in her completed history! Did she include a bit of dryer sheet in with them? I won the purple Valentine's baby pony and she threw in a small bit of a sheet (which smells of smoke, not like anything good).
I got a reply to my ebay message that said simply "thanks for letting me know" so I doubt she'll do anything in the future about it. Might want to block this seller if you're sensitive to smoke smell (like Mr. Skeen, who had an asthma attack after I opened the package).

Yeah, she did put a dryer sheet in the package... so weird! She also wrapped them in news paper and coloured tissue
Doesn't sound like it worries her too much. I suppose theres no point in me messaging her. Should I write about it in the feedback? And that sucks it affected your husbands asthma! I don't think I'm allergic but the smell might make me sneeze plus it's gross. Poor birds.

I'd definitely leave a note in her feedback. If she doesn't say or sound like she's going to change it or even at least put a note in the auction, then you should definitely leave a note so that buyers will have a heads up. Don't be too mean about it though.. if she's sending dryer sheets with it, I think she's at least trying to make up for it.

Ugh second-hand smoking through eBay.
That's bad for your health. NOT cool.

Thanks for the advice Berry!
And yeah, second hand smoke is NOT cool! I think it affected my fairy tails birds. One of them is balding and the other has derby eyes lol.
