This is really not right on the buyers part, but in saying that if you had nearly a week delay in shipping, I think it would have been polite to let the buyer know about it. I am not saying you didn't message her about it, its just from the information you have given here, it looks like she had to figure out it was posted late herself.
I personally would be less than pleased if I was in her shoes, im just saying this as I can see both sides of the coin here.
Overall though, she has absolutely no right to ask for free stuff, that isn't right. I would report her to ebay, as this is overstepping the mark.
Maybe take this as a learning curve for the next time you sell something and have to post off a bit later? Maybe a message after the person pays stating that you are working late all week and will message them as soon as their package is on the way, also apologizing for the delay in shipping.
Unfortunately there are alot of buyers on a power trip because they know as a seller, you can't neg them which in my opinion is just wrong. |
I would actually have to agree with fingerpaints on most parts here. When I sell on eBay I normally ship within 2 days and if I'm delayed for any reason I will send a note by 3 days so that they buyer knows I am working on it. I think most people expect to receive their packages (within the US) in like 7-10 days at the most or faster with Priority.
As for her asking for a surprise... for me that's hard to pin on her since you kind of invited that type of response by asking her " Is there anything I can do for you?" which what can you really ask for but money or merchandise if you're a little peeved?
I won't put her on my block list or report her as she seems like she's probably an okay buyer. She paid right away and has good communication even if she wasn't pleased with the whole transaction. I don't think she was trying to threaten you or blackmail you, just responding to what you said.
You're doing awesome though, working full time, being a mom AND selling on eBay. That's a lot to deal with and things aren't always going to go perfect but things work out. You got your money, she'll get her ponies.
If you want to win some points (feedback) with her throw a couple packs of stickers in the mail. Most of us have plenty of G3 stickers laying around and they'd be cheap to send first class. She didn't say what kind of surprise and I'm sure some stickers would be useful for her... um preschool class?
