Ok...I ll admit that I am very very bad and even if I have a poor transaction i seldom find myself able to leave negative feedback...however I think the proverbial "camel and straw" happened with a pony i purchased about a month ago
First comment on this is that although she only arrived with me this week - that is NOT the sellers fault its my local post office - 6 houses with similar names in a rural bit of Scotland - basically we all get one anothers mail! In addition she was packaged well and postage was reasonable - so no complaints on that front.
However here is her description
Eyes are bright with no wear or rubs
Cheeks still have pink blush
Hair is very shiny and smooth (one of her best features)
Stamps and glitter display strongly with some minimal rubbing (~80% good)
Very clean with NO tail rust!
Head and tail still attached firmly, no rattling, appears original washer is in place
Very lightly played-with condition
No major blemishes or discoloration - Very good shape!
curse the lack of daylight in this country and the fact i dont have my good camera with me...but here is my little issue on her front left leg - just above the bottom of her leg and around on to underside her foot she has some pretty obvious highlighter/regrind.
So here is my question after all of this waffling - should i have expected this from the auction? did i miss something? or am i right to be a little annoyed?

Well, she states no major blemishes, but her idea of major might be diffrent from yours. I'm a picky collector so I'd consider it major. Was it in the auction photos? I'd send her an email.

Is it something that can be seen without turning the pony over? I can't tell from the pictures. I myself am guilty of sometimes forgetting to look under pony hooves... I try to remember but it's just one of those things that I have a tendency to overlook! And I am a fairly picky collector who looks over everything and describes any ponies I sell in great detail.
Anyway, if it's something you can't see unless you turn her over, I don't think I would make a big deal out of it. Like Sarahlacewing said, most people don't realize how particular collectors can be about their ponies!
Also, was the spot visible in the sale photos?

I don't know much about restoring but isn't something like that somewhat easy to fix by sun bathing or whatever?
It just looks so minor and so low on her body. Seems like something you can somehow bleach out or something.
Oh and yeah, the description should've mentioned it :-/ But you know, some people wouldn't consider that major I guess.

Oh well, that's a shame. I didn't know those pink marks couldn't be sun bleached...
If I ever come in contact with a minty Gusty I'll let you know!

Best of luck with sunfading. You might want to let the seller know that those pink stains are something that should be disclosed.

It doesn't seem too bad to me... But I'm not all that picky.
And the mark can be sunfaded, I actually also have a gusty that had a pink highlighter mark on her foot, about as big as the one on yours. It faded out nicely |
it isnt bad i agree - its more the point it wasnt mentioned that is a little annoying - the seller sells at lot of ponies so its not as though its something they may have been unaware of as being an issue but as above i guess the consensus is that i am being a little over fussy...
i would guess the mark you had was out and out pen then rather than the change in plastic this one has - honestly though i dont get enough daylight strength to even try! |
well as far as I know, white ponies don't turn pink randomly (like regrind), so yours has to have some sort of pen or highlighter mark. The sunlight over on the east coast is somewhat pathetic during this time, but I'm still having luck with sunfading ponies. In fact, I just turned a gingerbread from a tan color to a nice bright white, and this was almost a week ago. There's still some hope! It would take a while for that to come out but Its worth the wait but if you really don't want to take the time to do that, since the mark is in an obscure place, it wouldn't really be seen on display, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Or, you could put some shoes on her
and i also get annoyed when sellers leave out details important to the collectors, it's happened to me a couple times. But trust me, your pony isn't bad at all, it could be a lot worse! It could be rusty, moldy, smell like cigarettes, have makeup colored in with sharpie..... But i'm assuming it's not by the way you're describing it, so.... At least you have a really great pony!
