Well, I got my first negative feedback on ebay.
Here is the item:
www.ebay.com/itm/28074...1562.l2649
Here is what the buyer e-mailed me:
idiots r us
I can't BELIEVE you would be so STUPID as to pack a fragile item against the bottom of the box like that, and expect it to arrive in one piece.
Where the hell was your brain during when you were packing this figure. I should demand that you find an exact replacement out of your own pocket - I'm TIRED of the bottomless stupidity running rampant in this country.
And his feedback:
Figure arrived BROKEN due to figure packed against bottom of box. IDIOT
So before I saw the e-mail and feedback, I ignored his request for a $20 replacement fairy he found on ebay, and just gave him a refund. But I did report him to ebay for thrhe rudeness. Then I noticed the e-mail had a picture of the broken fairy, and it broke off the base. Which is weird b/c I bubble wrapped the entire fairy with tissue paper in a strudy box and wrote fragile all over it. Usually it is the wings that break. I am now thinking he broke the fairy on purpose. You need alot of force to break the feet off the base.
I will NEVER sell anything that fragile on ebay again. I think I will stick with 80s toys.
BTW, block him: yoohoo_junkie

I'm so sorry this happened to you maybe you could live a comment about the feedback so that other people see that the buyer may be a lier?
Hopefully this won't affect your future sales.

Psycho!
So let me get this straight. He spent a total of 12.65 on this fairy (including the charge for shipping). But he wanted a $20 refund? Is that what he asked?

Actually it was only $10.65. He wanted me to buy him the same fairy from a different buyer on ebay that had it for a BIN of $20 plus shipping.

Wow, what a jerk. :/ I'm sorry he was so rude to you. And asking you to pay DOUBLE for a replacement figure? Yeah right.

Holy. That is a nutbar e-mail. I'd have been upset, but calmed down before I sent anything. A lot of times a person doesn't know how to ship. I usually do fire off a polite e-mail if I notice an item is poorly packed (even if nothing is damaged). That rudeness was horrible.
If you've sent him the full refund, you have done enough. If this figure was resting against the bottom of the box, I don't think he's lying about the damage. It could have easily happened. Demanding you buy him another figure is nuts. He's out nothing at this point besides his time.
If any part of the figure is against an edge of the box, odds are it will break. One good strike is all it takes. Writing fragile essentially does nothing. The post system is dealing with a huge volume and odds are it's tossed into bins, on belts, has stuff piled on top, etc multiple times.
It's easy to pack breakables if you know what to do. Anything fragile needs to be suspended in the center of a box, and packed so it cannot shift around, or bang against the edges of a box - or move. (if it moves, it breaks). Anything expensive, or rare (like a pricey MLP porcelain) I'd double box. wrap, box, and wrap, box. (again, so it's not allowed to move)

I'm so sorry this happened to you - just another reason why ebay neds to reinstate feedback for seller to give about buyers!
That guy's comments are really unecessary - even if its true that the item was not well packed, a reaction like that is uncalled for.
Any decent buyer could not expect more than a full refund, and if it was me buying, if the matter was dealt with politely and quickly by the seller I would leave positive feedback because despite the problem, it was dealt with efficiently - I would be disappointed, but not out of pocket.
If you are able to put a comment, do - you need to make people aware that this guy did not act at all reasonably. If you can get it removed by ebay for name calling I would try that

I'm very sorry that happened to you- that's really, really sad. It is truly a low person who thinks it is okay to talk to someone like that
I agree with the others in that maybe ebay could remove the feedback due to the violent/degrading nature of the feedback and message sent to you.

Thanks for the support everyone. I did report the message and feedback that was rude to ebay and waiting for a reply.
I packed the fairy in bubble wrap with tissue paper around it in a small box. I guess the box was too small maybe. But I really thought I packed it fine. Thanks for the advice about shipping it in a bigger box and putting it in the center.
BUT I really think I am never going to sell easily breakable items on ebay ever again.
