|
Sent photos of the envelope to seller so he could look into the matter on his end. After talking with his post office in Oregon he wrote me back saying he would never go to that location again and refunded me the whole amount Don't know what the problem was, but at least he was understanding and gave me my money back. Thank you all for your suggestions.
I received an empty envelope that was supposed to include a BB bandana. Should I mention it to the ebay seller or am I out $10.50? Anyone else have this happen?

I had it happen with a lip gloss once. The outer corner of the envelope looked like it got caught in the sorting machine and it fell out.
I would maybe make mention to the seller what happened. Who knows they may make it right for you. I know I would

Seller didn't say anything in the description about not responsible for lost items like most, but seeing as it was a cheap buy it now it never crossed my mind to suggest insurance. I think the same happened a few years ago with some pony charms that never showed up. Luckily the seller sent replacements out. Guess for now on when I buy small items I will have to ask sellers to ship it in a box and pay extra. It was a bandana for Barnacle so if anyone has an extra one let me know. Stupid machines! What happened to sorting mail by hand?

No, tell the seller. They will give you a refund.
By the way, was the envelope opened?!?! How is it empty?

It just had a tear on the bottom that they taped up. I have wrote the seller as well as contact a few more I bought small items from to kindly point out the danger of mailing in small envelopes as I know they are cheaper cost wise. I even offered to pay extra for a box. With the holidays upon us, this is more likely to happen.

Well just so you know, that is really rare. I ship things in envelopes that are small like that and something like that happening is very strange. So don't worry too much about your next one.
Hopefully the seller will refund you with no problems.

Yeah I know it rarely happens. This is maybe the 3rd or 4th time I had an item or items lost in the mail in 10+ years of buying online and out of about 1000 transactions. I've even gotten envelopes at work marked as items lost. I'm just suggesting it since mail seems to be heavier this time of year and this is the second time it's happened around the holidays. After a few more buys from here and ebay, I'll probably be done 'til January.

Yes I'm sure I can. None on ebay at the moment. I'm sure someone else will have Barnacles bandana for sale. Just don't won't to have to pay a hefty price for it like some on ebay are asking. Glad this wasn't a very hard to find item or I'd be ticked! Still waiting on sellers reply. Either way, I'm not gonna worry over it too much. Just hope seller is willing to work something out.

 that sucks! I think contacting the seller was the right thing to do though, and I hope that you manage to get your refund. It will hopefully help the seller in their future transactions as well - I ask my sellers to put extra tape over any envelopes or even boxes, to avoid this situation. I've never actually had an empty envelope arrive, but before I started asking for extra tape I had a few envelopes arrived with ponies literally hanging out of them. I really dont know how they actually made it to my house Posties can handle those parcels so roughly sometimes |
I know many people send their ponies in an envelope, but I've always been very against it. I don't like using an envelope for anything other than paper thin items.
Some of the things people put in envelopes is down right stupid. You know those priority mail envelopes? When I used to make candles, I used to order rubber molds online. They can be pretty solid and heavy. I bought one to make pie candles and the ebay lady put it in a priority mail envelope and sent it on it's way. No tape or anything (only thing keeping it closed was the glue from the sticker part of the flap).
Of course I got the envelope empty with a note written on it from the post office saying "sorry, item lost".
Argh, I wish I had a bandana to sell you :-(
