PostPosted: 0    Post subject: eBay feedback question Edit: Is being rude a crime?

I had an eBay store with my sister that we ran together but recently we had a falling out and I resurrected my buyers account and set it up for selling. I have sold several items and tracking shows they arrived some time ago yet I haven't received my feedback. Is it a bad idea to contact the buyers and request feedback? I always promptly leave feedback so I am a little concerned. Thoughts? Thank you for easing my mind.

I would give it a week or so, since it's common for people to get caught up with other things going on in their lives Smile If you do message them, maybe something along the lines of "Hi! I saw from the tracking number that _____ arrived but you haven't left feedback. Is everything ok with it? Please let me know if you have any concerns, thanks!"

^That's roughly what I would send at least Wink Then again I also don't leave my buyers feedback on ebay unless they leave me some first. That's so if there's a problem and they're nice/cooperative about it, I can mention that they're easy to work with and so forth.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe Ill wait a little longer (it's been over a werk I think) and then I'll leave them feedback. Maybe it will remind them. It's not like I could leave neg seller feedback anyway. Smile

Thats some good advice from Glacia ^^ Smile sometimes buyers dont leave feedback right away, but if anything is wrong they are usually quick to contact the seller - so I would think everything is fine - dont worry Hug

Smile I hope so. I usually sell with no returns just to discourage the flim flam bidders but if there is some kind of problem I'm always happy to work with people. *fingers crossed*

some people just don't leave feedback.
most of the people i've sold to never left me anything.

the weird thing is, i ALWAYS leave feedback on my transactions. ALWAYS. i don't really consider a transaction complete until i go leave feedback for it.

funny huh?

See I am the same way, I am careful always to leave feedback. It is a little maddening honestly. I can't accumulate it here on forum because of the glitch/people don't post on the thread like they should. And I can't accumulate it on ebay because no one leaves feedback. *sigh*

The only reason I wont leave feedback is if I am unhappy...but its not unhappy enough to leave a neutral or a negative..ok I know that sounds odd...but usually its something like being significantly over charged on postage from a seller who is also a member of the community - its not a crime, its not enough that it should put other buyers off, but it does mean I am a little less satisfied with the purchase than I should be...in these cases I figure say nothing and move on...

On the other hand I usually do all my feedback once a week or every couple of weeks so I dont leave it instantly...I would give them a week or so after the item has been received and then send a little "hope you were happy, would you be kind enough to leave feedback" nudge email.

I hope this is not the case but it's possible I suppose. If you ever buy from me and are less than satisfied I implore you (world in general) to message me what the problem was can improve as a seller with more accurate photos, descriptions, helpful information, etc whatever it might be. I'm happy to make shipping adjustments also but keep in mind I often charge an .80 fee for delivery confirmation on Ebay.

People here make me feel like a criminal since I don't have much feedback. Scared It makes me not want to sell here. I know they are just protecting their investments but it hurts my feelings.

I hope no one is making you feel like a criminal because you dont have feedback here...it takes a while and a lot of transactions to build up feedback, I would hope people can be understanding. But as others have said sometimes its about being over cautious...I am sure if you have feedback on ebay a lot of people will take that as proof of your integrity as a seller.

If its a major issue on ebay I would be in touch with a seller straight away! Only if its seriously minor - i.e. something that I dont really want to enter into a debate on will I simply not leave feedback - but thats on ebay only, unless I completely forget I ll always leave feedback on the Arena.

Sad I'm so sorry to hear that. Everyone has to start somewhere, and our community is usually friendly and welcoming. It makes me sad to think that someone may have treated you badly just because you dont have a ton of feedback yet Sad Pony Sad Pony Sad Pony I hope that you wont let this put you off- most people here would not dream of treating you this way Hug
Personally I dont see any issues with buying from someone who is new or doesnt have much feedback, since buyers are pretty well protected as long as dont use the gift option for payments, and they keep an eye on the 45 day paypal deadline.

Thank you! I didn't realize we weren't supposed to send payments as gifts. I always send them as gifts I thought that made customs easier for international sellers since they don't have to log them as sales? I have learned something useful. Happy Pony

It's not that you aren't supposed to send payment as a gift (as you can send it however you want) it's just that you can't really open up a claim on a gift payment since it technically wasn't supposed to be for any type of products. So if you paid by gift and then you never received anything and the seller disappeared there would not really be a way for you to get your money back.

Sending as a gift makes it so no fees are taken out for the seller who receives the payment but that also makes it so that they can't print out a shipping label through Paypal. You do get shipping discounts for printing labels online. For first class and parcel post you get delivery confirmation for only like 19 cents and it's free for priority, plus priority shipping is also discounted a small percent as well.

As far as feedback on eBay I would just send a short message of something like "happy holidays and thanks again for your purchase! I am trying hard to build up my feedback on eBay so I would very much appreciate when you have a free moment if you could leave a feedback for me as a seller. If you had any issues or questions about your order please let me know. Otherwise I thank you for your business!"

Waiting a week should be plenty. You don't want to wait so long that they forget about what they bought. Hopefully they will take the time to leave some good feedback for you!

Oh well I guess. Maybe I am just not dealing with the right people somehow. I will eventually get the site feedback I have pending. That is if everyone is leaving it as they claim to. I've had so many transactions even here on forum and like no one uses the thread. Wink

I think alot of folks just flat don't think about it. Probably only %75 of all the transactions that I have done here at the Arena have been followed up with feedback and I know that they were all happy with the transaction, I make doubly sure of it. And I try my absolutely hardest to leave feedback for every transaction that I complete. But, sometimes, no feedback for me! XD It's just the nature of the beast, I'm afraid.

Also, bear in mind that we've been having our issues with getting New Feedbacks in the system for quite some time now, so you may actually be there in the system, and we just haven't gotten it posted to the site yet! You can always PM your previous partners and request that they add your FB to the "New Feedbacks" thread that we are currently using while we wait on the bugs to move out of the current FB system. Smile mlparena.com/Forums/vi...78026.html

All the same, it's NOT okay if anypony here at the Arena has made you feel like less than welcome in any way!! Please feel free to report anyone who is making you uncomfortable to either myself or any other Trader Support moderator! Wink We do not tolerate abuse or misconduct of any kind here at the Arena!

In the meantime, I love Emery's note; it looks very respectable and not at all pushy!! Maybe wait a few more days and send them something like that! Smile

Good luck!
