Not sure if there is a topic for this so I apologize if there is one.

First off these sets are nice but they do show some problems, as you may know the colors don't match especially Dragon Girl and Sea Monster parts to the actually Torso.

Second issue is the Add-On sets don't feature the upper arms and legs so more miscoloration there and with the skeleton girl you don't get the boney feeling for the upper arms and legs even if they are covered by her clothing but you know you wish they made femurs and humorous parts.

Hopefully down the road Mattel will make a torso pack with the right colored parts with those torso packs, along with those torsos will come the corrected color upper arms and legs, especially for in my opinion the insect one but for all of them should be changed, so the run down would be, to correct the dolls:

Dragon Girl: Pink Torso
Sea Monster Girl: Blue Torso
Skeleton Girl: White Torso (Could be like a real skeleton or a white body but the neck like a vertebrae, corrected sculpted femurs and humorous which would be white.)
Insect Girl: Yellow and Black striped torso or just yellow if cost is to high, and yellow upper arms and legs
Three-Eyed Ghoul: Blue Torso, with blue upper arms and legs.

That way these would have the correct colors and (sculpt) <-- this mostly applies to the skeleton girl.

Those are my issues with the CAM sets also of course most of you already know this, the sets not coming with an extra torso for the starter sets and the add-ons not coming with a torso at all.

First off in my opinion i do not think that it was Mattel's intention to create new characters, my belief is that they were trying to market a particular type of doll that was interchangeable so that children could be creative and make their own monster.
Plus the pictures on the back indicate that is theoretically what they were going for.

The children could create a monster that is semi OOAK. (well 1 of 250 anyway... LOL)

HOWEVER....
The fact that there is only 2 torsos total and 7 potential whole dolls makes ANY collector irritated as all hell... LOL
I am so MAD that they only have 1 torso per package... I REALLY want to make 5 potential dolls with only 2 torsos and not enough money to spend $27 just for 1 torso... Sad

The whole few torsos thing definitely annoys me, especially since they only come in the starter sets and my stores so far have only had the add-ons. So it's all 'great, I have the extra parts, but can't really do much with them until the starter sets show up'.

That and, like Repulsive, I would want to make more than 2 dolls but at those costs it doesn't seem likely(sure kids would want more than just 2 as well!). I mean, the starter sets should at least have two torsos each.

Though I wonder if further down the road you'll be able to buy just torsos/upper arms/legs separately from them for less than a whole kit? I'm hoping at least...

I think they were going for something like Mr Potato Head where the parts would be switched around multiple times. I personally think the skeleton parts are genius since you could make a monster where the flesh is half rotted away. Pretty edgy stuff for a playline doll.

I am annoyed because I got two left forearms for the sea monster. You can't really tell, but it is still annoying. There are too many individual parts for them to not be careful about giving you one of each like they are supposed to!!

Wardah- I totally agree.

The only people super annoyed with the torso issue are collectors as far as i can tell...
I mean obviously there will be some kids like "i only get 1 doll out of this"...
But for the most part they aren't going to care.

That was my first thought! "Bone limbs?! I can make a zombie like I always draw!" I have a pseudo-character with a rotted forearm and foreleg.

About the lack of torsos, maybe a good idea would be to use a cheap doll like a gloom beach and customize a bit the torso so it can be used for the created a monster parts, even the stand could be used.

Alrak- It is better to buy both the CaM packs and switch the torsos...
I wanted the Sea Monster and the Dragon girl and i just both both of them and switched... The pink torso from the other pack is a little bit lighter than the Dragon girl, but it works better than the blue one.

Sapphire-
I actually tried that.

I had a cheap Lagoona that i tried to use, but it went horribly wrong.

The CaM pack torsos and limbs are made differently so they snap together really easily.
The regular dolls are VERY well put together and cannot be taken apart at the knee... I tried and tried and what actually happened is the elastic in the hips tore and now her legs are detached and i cannot put them back together.

The CaM packs also come with a doll stand of their own so you do not have to worry about that.

I am actually into mold making and i am going to make a mold of the torso and dye them according to the accessory packs...

I would definitely try selling them if i couldn't get into serious trouble from doing that... lol
luckily i can make them for my own purposes... lol

I plan on doing a mold and making some torsos for myself also. Though instead of dyeing, I'm going to use acrylic paint.

I bought the dragon\werewolf starter pack and the skeleton add on. Is anyone else having trouble getting the forearm into the ...backarm(?)? I put the silver-y torso and thighs together with the skeleton. I think it looks nice, but I can't quite get the arms to snap together.

bewilderness- What are you using for the final product?
The reason i am dying mine is because i am using resin.

Weepingpiano- The add on packs aren't a perfect fit for the starter pack parts... You just have to work them in a little. Smile
