I will never leave Christchurch, my heart is here. After the feb earthquake I left for 3 months. The break was nice but in the end I came back because I couldn't stay away. Its all very well and good for those who don't live ehre to say we should just leave and not rebuild, but really is that because you care about the people or are you just sick of hearing about it?

i know what you mean, my heart was broken when we left, i didnt want to leave, even with all the quakes, i was so sad and depressed leaveing my home town and all my friends and family but hubby got a sole charge job in his area of work that he couldnt say no too, everyone was like go get out, it was for the best of our kids too, especialy cos we were right on the epicentre.

Awww at lest you had some good stability leaving, thats something :). My aunty has it hard with her kids, poor little guys were just calming down and finally sleeping full nights in bed again and then this happened so they are camping out in the door frames again. My friends were on the epicentre too and moved to Oamaru the day in Feb. I would have made the same move as you if I had kids to worry about, its just me and silverskimmer and the animals to worry about in our little family! Though the cats and rat can be like children sometimes the way they carry on lol.

silverskimmer felt most of them. The 5.5 around 5am woke us up though, went for ages and then we got lots of phone calls lol. I'm not really sure what to do about skimmer though, he gets so upset after every quake and moving away isn't really a option.

My kids slept through that 5.5 this morning! Oh to be 3yrs old and oblivious...jeepers it was a long one - rolled for ages!
Binary; Nigel Latter did a great talk about coping with the quakes - maybe that would help Skimmer?

You poor guys alright
I saw a bottle store owner on t.v last night.. His insurance premiums have gone from $2500/year to $60,000/year!!! an increase of 2400%
how just how is he meant to insure his business & keep going?? I mean Christchurch needs people to stay in business to help get the city going again...Its just SO tragic all around.
