Yesterday (Christmas Day) after lunch, after unwrapping our presents, just when we started playing with our new toys... Mother nature struck!

I'll let these pictures speak for themselves:

I hope you & your family & friends had no damage from it sweetie Hug - we live out in the suburbs (between Dandenong & Cranborne) and got some hail but it was like pea sized. I heard it struck very heavy around Coburg area.

These massive hailstones came down over Taylors Lakes and Sydenham. The shards of plastic on the ground are from our pergola. My car is covered in dents and has a cracked windscreen.

Our cat was so freaked out he hid in a cupboard for the rest of the evening. D:

Yikes, that particular stone with the measuring tape appears to be just over golf ball size (1.75"). You'd barely remember that it's winter here. Haven't had snow since the October snowstorm from earlier this year and that snow is long gone.

Your hailstorm made the news in NZ! I can't believe the damage it wrecked. How scarey!

Wow! I was also in Victoria for Christmas, bit further North than you, there was certainly no hail - it was 40 degrees! (that's over 100 Fahrenheit for non-celsius-speaking-people)

megt, Are you sure you were in Victoria? You were probably very far north. Poke Tounge The predicted temperature for our area was 30 degrees (celsius), but it was rather chilly that day, especially when the storm/hail/rain hit.
