I liked all these

Look My Mom My Dad and my Brother&me ever since we all were little Presents is the biggest things we look forward to during Christmas and to this day even all of us as Adults we still look Forward to the presents even before my Grandparents died they also looked forward to the presents as well and we like watching The Girls open their's.

I am sorry me&My Family have differnt belief's about Christmas then yall do everyone has differnt Opinon's about Christmas some it is about Family and some it is about gifts&Family like me&my family.

I am not trying to say this to be mean but I am getting tired of being called out on how I feel about stuff just like what happend over the Radation stuff I posted way back it upsets me when some of yall do that

I love Christmas and look forward to Christmas every year just like I look forward to Halloween every year it hurts my feelings when I hear people say they hate Christmas when it is one of The Best Holidays and one of the Most Caring Holidays of the whole year Toys For Tots I love That The Salvation Army does that for Children who are less Fortunate they helped me&my family when My Bro&I were little and I love everything else The Salvation Army does for less Fortunate Family's, The secret Santa's are really great to I wish a Secret Santa would of helped my Family.

I give up hun, I just don't understand why you think we are "calling you out". I never anywhere said that anyone should feel terrible for liking gifts, I just don't understand why you can't be greatful for what you did get. If your family is so poor that you wish you had the salvation army help you out, you should be even more greatful for the gifts they did manage to scrape together for you.

I love Christmas, and as you said, its the whole caring & loving part of Christmas that I do love. I have been in contact with friends that I have been out of touch with for nearly 12 months or more, I have spent some time with some of my much loved friends that are close enough distance wise to have a few drinks with & eat food together, I have also spent time with my friends children that I was close enough to because I love being around children.

I also helped at one of the local childcare centres face painting at their christmas party and painted up a puppet theartre for some children free of charge because I knew this was going to make them smile on Christmas morning.

I am not saying that I am a saint, I am not saying lead by example, what I am having a hard time understanding is why you think that because others got more than you that you could have done better present wise.

I only have one grandparent left too, but she is in another state. I had one living with us up until she died, and pop was in a nursing home the last 13 months of his life. We made sure they had a lovely day on christmas, this generally ment a few smaller gifts, this may have been some toiletries, socks, clothes, or ornaments of something they liked, and made sure they had a nice meal and enjoyed some quality time with their family.

We are quiet poor ourself, and I just get upset when I see others say "I didn't get this, but I did get ....." and rattle off a list as long as their arm of the things they did get.

I just hope you can understand where I am coming from, rauther than dismissing it, have a read & a think about it.

I didn't get anything for Christmas this year. Not one thing, apart from cards.

This was my choice, also the choice of my OH, as we're expecting our first child next year. What we asked for is that people buy things for the baby next year once it arrives.

Neither of us had anything we particularly wanted or needed as Christmas gifts, so it seemed more appropriate to ask for things that we would need next year. The last few years, we've not really required anything, but have bought each other silly stuff that was mostly relegated to the attic within a few months, so we just didn't bother to waste our money that way this time around.

Christmas isn't about gifts. It is, at heart, a Christian religious festival, although a lot of people seem to forget that. yes, gifts at christmas are nice, but they shouldn't be the be-all and end-all of everything.

A year and a half ago, I was convinced that my mother wouldn't be with me any more following a bad collapse and a serious stroke. She was with us last Christmas, albeit in a wheelchair and only just about able to feed herself. This year, she walked from the car to the house, ate a massive dinner and spent ages arguing with my boyfriend over what programmes to watch on TV after we'd eaten *g* That was the best bit of Christmas - she'll never be the way she was before she was ill, but she's so much better than she was, or to be honest, better than I ever expected her to be.

I had a wonderful Christmas with my family, the presents were just a bonus. I love to shop for people, that's part of why I love Christmas.

Cute cousin mug and some tea
A bracelet
A disc with 3 hidden object games
A small lantern shaped light, with Cardinals on the outside & Christmas lights inside
Some kitchen stuff
The new Sue Grafton book
And a GPS that promptly got us lost, lol

People are listing what they got, or didn't get. Some people didn't get anything, that is all I am saying.

LM, do you understand that you calling me out is not making me look like the bad guy here? I am not picking on you, just stating an opinion. Fair enough you may not agree with it, and thats cool, but I haven't been rude or nasty to you, I would appreciate the same respect back.

There is no need to be rude to us that have stated what we think of Christmas. I am appreciative of everything I got, and I feel for those that couldn't afford anything, more people than you think are strugging alot worse off than yourself. I know we are struggling money wise, but I know too, we have it alot better than alot of people out there, all I am saying is you should be thankful, not wishing for more.

I dont think you can "control" a thread like this and have people only give you a strict list on what they got for Christmas.
The gifts are such a small part of what makes Christmas special that of course people are going to expand on your original question and share what ELSE was special about there day, its only natural.

Personally I enjoyed reading more about time spent with family then lists of gifts but thats just me. Smile

I got the stomach flu on xmas eve and so did my family. Christmas was basically cancelled and while we did open gifts when we felt well enough to the holiday mood was shattered beyond belief. No xmas dinner or gifts nothing but puking and more puking. And I had a house guest that was basically on his own the whole time the rest of us were yakking up or sick in bed. Not fun. I would have given anything to have had a nice time with those I love.
As for gifts I got
$100
a starbucks gift card for $25
6 nice shirts
2 nightgowns
2 pairs of pants
2 sweaters
a book of grimms fairy tales
and choccies
