I love Breyers. There are so many hundreds of models everything is individual, just like ponies. There are rare ones that make it into the hundreds and not so rare ones that barely make the $10 mark. They were made between like 1950's and current so its hard to tell which is which since they didn't date them at all.

Here is a good ID site: identifyyourbreyer.com/

I'll post some pics of mine when I'm on a computer that better supports photobucket. My sister has the good computer right now, I'm on the spare.

Cheapest place to buy them in the US is Tuesday Morning. I usually go to antique malls to find them. Hobby shops sell them at retail price usually but if you want a certain model you have to shell out the money sometimes.

I liked Breyers as a kid. I have a few of my mom's from from when she was a kid - 70s versions I guess - and I broke one of the colt's legs. Sad

Living near KY, I one day want to go to Breyerfest.

I have one with a broken leg. I plan to buy a similar sized thin plastic flocked horse from the dollar tree and deflock the leg I need, then cut the plastic leg off at the point where I need it and attach it to the Breyer with hot glue and then paint it to blend. I haven't yet though since its a model that stands fine on 3 legs.

People actually show Breyers that they have fixed, repositioned with heat, repainted, all that stuff. Breyer encourages customization. Also they show them by making miniature scenes with riders and equipment to look just like a scene with a real horse. I wish I had enough money one day to go to Breyerfest.

I collect Breyers too, much to my husband's dismay Silly

Since there are so many, I've been going after a theme of "Famous Horses from Real Life and TV/movies". I also make a few exceptions if there is a one outside the theme I really like and also sometimes collect the yearly Treasure Hunt horses e.g. this years Weather Girls, just love the Rainbow one I got Flirty Pony I also collect certain molds even if some of the horses end up outside my main theme e.g. Huckleberry Bey, Cigar and Silver molds. Collecting a number of models in a certain mold is called a conga by the way so I have 3 congas Happy Pony

Since I don't live in the USA anymore, I'm not sure where it's best to buy them Confused I think my parent's mostly at the time bought them at the shop were I got my riding gear. I mostly go through Ebay to get the older horses and an English site (Utterly Horses) to get the newer ones (unless Ebay is cheaper Happy Pony ). Hopefully some of the US collectors can better tip you off on where to buy them.

HaveACrumpet452 has given you a good site to check them out though Happy Pony Happy collecting YAY!

I have seen some of them and the only ones my sister wants are the unicorn ones . we had a bunch at the antique mall for half off but even half off they were asking too much for them. On top of that there was a very poorly done custom unicorn mare only the body was a stallion not a mare.

I used to collect quite a few, but had to quit because of the expense. xp

Like Havacrumpet said, they do seem the cheapest at Tuesday Morning, one of my mom's fave shops. ^^
I've also seen some at TJ Maxx, even seeing one at five dollars!
Customs are always beautiful too, some people are so talented!

I collect em! My husband actually likes my breyers more than the ponies..hahah.

I have a hard time finding them locally, so I mostly buy them online.

Here's pics of recent additions to my collection. Mostly I collect older models of the traditional (largest) scale. I have only about 40 now and am on the market for more shelving so I can corral them and save my kitchen and living room.

Yes, the poodle in this pic is a Breyer, an older one with the more sought after blue collar. The Woodgrain traditional horse is a more uncommon older finish as opposed to regular horse colors.

Here's a close up. He's beat up and about a 2 on the 0-4 condition rating, but since he's a more rare finish he's still sought after, and he has a blue rope which is more sought after than other colors.

The two wearing bridles in this pic are the Breyers you order off the back of Little Debbie snack cake boxes.

Thoth collects them I customize them. One of the best places to learn about them is the Blab. Identify your Breyer is the best site. There is also a whole model horse sales board, PM me for the links.

I have been a model horse shower since 1973 so have seen many trends come and go in Breyer land. Right now they are having clubs, check out Breyers site for more info. Most large chain stores do not carry them. TRU still has some, Tuesday Mornings get them once in a while and many tack shops still carry some of the line.

If you really want to go nuts you need to go to Breyerfest, it happens every July in KY and is a weekend of model overload.

i collect them aswell. Mostly i get the stable mates as they are smaller,
cheaper and don't take up as much space

I used very serious & picky collecting Breyers But I stopped collecting due I didn't like newer models and quality for the prices. I decide pick-up on MLP.
I used buy from this place...
www.modelhorsecollecto...m/home.htm
or H & H circle

I personal love the glossy models in Breyer. If decide get back into collecting breyer I only collected Glossies, old model and stablemates.
