I've purchased 19 G4s, four G1s, (I would love to buy more, but I tend to avoid buying online - too addictive!) and I'm going to estimate about 10 G3s. Most of them were baits though I picked up at the second hand store.
I don't think I did too badly this year overall.

let's go take a count...
G1- 7
G2- 1
G3- 41
G 3.5 - 3
G4 - 36
soooo... wow, I've gotten myself exactly 88 ponies this year excluding McD's and Ponyvilles! All of them second hand store finds, except for the G4's and one G3 Bumblesweet. Still, that is way more pony than I thought I had xD
However, I think FlyingPonyMonster & PonyMonsters are the winners so far! Between 5-7 HUNDRED in a year!! That's magnificent

G2: 6
G3: 3
G4: 20

Fun question! I started collecting ponies in January 2011... which means I bought my whole collection (so far) in 2011! I think my current collection is well over 100..
I do collect ALL generations though, and I'm sure you would all agree - it's not at all hard for the ponies to add up!
