I think you're absolutely right! They're getting used to doing things as cheaply and easily as possible and need to be set straight before it becomes a habit. Quality does matter! Variety does matter!

I'd love to see more ponies with bangs. I wouldn't want all of them to be that way, of course, but one or two in each wave would be nice. Especially to match ponies that actually have them in the show.

Notice they've also only released two poses. That's another way they're being cheap/lazy, but I actually don't mind it. I prefer the simple, basic standing pose to any of those awkward trotting and rearing poses past generations have had. I'm not even too fond of the g4 walking/lifted leg pose. It reminds me just a tad bit too much of the poor elephantitis afflicted g3.5's. I think just because it makes the thickness difference between the upper and lower leg so much more obvious. I feel a little bad for not liking it since it's the first pose variation, but I think "standing" will always be my favorite. You just can't go wrong with it.

I agree with you... the quality is so crappy compared to the previous generations. Used to be a head/body color mismatch was the result of age, now you get it straight out of the box.

But, I do feel that they've done a good job on the manes. I was brushing some of the singles like Dewdrop Dazzle and the manes are surprisingly thick and shiny for the size of the pony. The tails are thin and disappointing but at least the manes have some substance.

I've noticed the bangs are rooted differently, that's probably why they quit doing them. Whole different configuration. I guess in a recession you have to keep costs down. All I know is, I'm keeping the ones with bangs just in case they get to be rares.

The bangs may look more show-accurate for some of the ponies straight out of the box, but I have seen people create much more convincing cuts from their non-bangs versions.

I'm holding on to a few bangs versions of each of the ponies... even overpaid by a couple bucks for some of them. Kind of gambling that I'll be able to flip them for a worthwhile profit at some point.

I think the one I have seen with bangs is one someone has customised...like Filthy says I am sure its only in prototype pics and customs she sports a fringe!

It was MIB (not a stock photo, this was a picture that someone actually took on their camera) so there's no way it could have been customized.
