Do not pass anything that looks like a MLP at a flea market... I remember passing at least two piggy ponies and some other rares because I didn't like them or didn't know they were real Crazy
Check the references and only trade with people with recent references...Do not trade with Corpse Kitten Shakes Head

Other than that, I guess I've been quite lucky with my tranactions. Most of you pony people are sooo great Big Ups

Lessons learned... Just because it looks like that little blue boy pony with a sail boat symbols you just bought at the flea market might have had a hair cut don't try and fix it with a mohawk Sad
Also - ponies marked Italy under the foot can occasionaly have a higher trade value.
Ah - the memories

I have learned:

Do not ship anything registered mail to Asia. It comes back... and costs 30 bucks for 4 ponies. So 30 plus the 20 to reship... grrr. Or, maybe the lesson is the post office doesn't always know what they are talking about.

Do not sell/trade with children without parental consent. I know there are some nice kids here. But, god, the headache two of them caused me. Angry parents, bad! As if I told their kids to buy stuff from me, geez.

Do not insure packages going to Europe from the US unless you want to slap a giant customs fee on your trading partner.

Do not try to use Clearasil on a pony, no matter how many people told you it works.

Am still looking for a Moonstone in perfect condition. If anyone wants spotted ones, ask me. I have like, three.

acually it does work I have used it on many ocation but the trick is to not let it sit on the pony and it only works with serface stains. I have found the whipes work the best.... On Fire Poke Tounge

lesson learned never goes half's on a collection with your child hood friend. they might just stab you in the back and sell all the ponies on ebay/give them away. just to spight you. I had this happen and to boot she distryed my computer,in the end coasted more then the whole collection was worth.. Angry Mad Blush :cry:

The biggest lesson I learned (and am still kicking my butt for it), don't hesitate to buy ponies. I was at a local doll store yonks ago and saw a little group of G1's for about $2-3 each. I picked up cotton candy and couple of others. I figured I'd come back for the rest, which included a Rapunzle (I was a young collector and didn't know). When I did the store had gone out of buisness! A Rapunzle for $3!
:::deep sigh:::
