|
Hi everypony, I've discovered a quick fix for the database errors for the moment while the mods and admins are working out the kinks. Please note the quick fix I've discovered is only for new postings and not editing.
If you are having trouble with posting a reply, I found that the following actions make my new post show up.
1. Click "My Account" on top right corner
2. Click "Find all posts by (username)" in the lower left
3. You should see the phantom post listed. Click the SUBJECT line. It is on the same line as the date etc.
"Forum: Pony Corral Posted: Fri Jan 06, 2012 11:13 pm Subject: Re: 2012 Valentine's Swap *partners sent- start shopping!*" <-- The red part is what you want.
And voila! Post visible!
Hope that helps you!

I've been clicking on the topic again after I've replied to it and it should display my new reply to it even if I wasn't shown as the most recent poster I hope your fix works on viewing new topics people try to post too though, as mine won't
I've also noticed some threads getting 'stuck' at 14 or 29 posts, basically unable to start a new page for whatever reason. To fix this, I've just been playing with the html code at the top. Right now, the one for this topic ends with: t=285978.html
If I wanted to jump to the top of page 2 (which it doesn't have right now as I'm typing this), I'd change it to: t=285978/start=15.html
I hope that made sense, just basically insert '/start=15' before the '.html'

OMG it works! I saw all the posts I've tried to make in the last day or so and I was able to delete the multiples and see the new replies. Wow!

Glacia471 - Yes! It will work for completely new topics as well, so that should be very much less frustrating.
Hope everyone who sees this and has posted multiple times can clean up as they go along too! *cleans her own double/triple/quadruple posts up*
Now to find a quickfix for EDITING....

Thank you!
It allowed me to finally post again, and remove my ton of other tries from the lineup, so they don't suddenly flood the forum when everything is back in working order.

Hmm, it's not working for me...
I can't delete double posts, it says they've already been replied too. Nor the multiple topics I started, it brings up the error message again.
But most of my posts have appeared anyway

Deleting posts/threads will result in the same database error, but if you refresh the thread/forum/your own post list, they should disappear!

OMG, thank you so much! I made about a dozen attempts to post a topic on the Customs page yesterday and was able to go through and clean them up before something really embarrassing happened.
Another tip I found: when trying to post replies, once you get the database error message, hit the back button on your browser and click reload. That's gotten all of my comments to show up so far.

Hm... doesn't work for comment editing, though. Here's what I was going to add:
Although... I've noticed that my little post count underneath my avatar has been stuck at the same number, even though I've been pretty talkative the past day or so. *shrugs* All well. Mighty Morphin' Power Pony it is.
