I'm excited about everything except the fact that 9 out of 18 listed are reissues... Guess unless they come with super exciting accessories and such, some of us will save quite a bit of money on this line.

My new #1 question for Hasbro employees: What is the reasoning behind the re-issuing of ponies versus creating new ones?? Surely there must be a reason....

I'm not usually so anti-reissues, but this is getting a little tedious. However, depending on the poses and accessories, I'll probably buy them anyway. Poke Tounge Thanks for the info, Bill!

Parents buy that sort of thing. Look at any toy line these days and you see the same main characters in various colours, with new accessories...It's an annoying trend, but one that assures us there will never be a Pinki Pie shortage.

This reflects parents buying habits, and lowers production costs. Each 'new' pony requires someone to design it...and while that may not seem like a huge cost, it's a cost none the less - and 'good buisness' is all about cutting wherever possible.

As well, I think ponies are unique in that regardless of the 'character', it is always the same toy over, and over again. There are only about 30 or so molds out there for almost 300 distinct ponies in the G3 line...and the casual consumer can't really tell the difference (I know I often can't....having to read the lables). So when grandma's going to buy a pony for Christmas, she's not going to care if it's the 27th release for Pinkie Pie...just that her little granddaughter loves MLP.

Does all of that make sense?

On Fire On Fire On Fire Another Wysteria! Yay! And she's a princess bride:) How did they know I was already engaged? Big Grin I'm so excited! And even more so that most of these will be out in only a few weeks! Good thing I'm a varient collector otherwise I suppose I'd be annoyed at all the re releases too, *just keeps her fingers crossed that they're all in new poses*

Yeah, but considering that reissues are often in a different pose, you'd think that would still involve a new "design." Maybe not as intensive of a design as a totally new pony, but still a new design regardless, with various prototypes, and surely tons of paperwork involved...

But yeah, I hear what you're saying, and pretty much agree. I'd still like to know if that is actually Hasbro's reasoning, however. After all, they were so successful back in the 80's with almost zero re-releases...why the big change since then??

Agreed. I'm weary of Wysteria, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie.

I can't stress enough just how disappointed I am. I've officially had it with all the reissues and reposes. I was hoping for a pony bride like from G1, not a stupid reissue of Wysteria. Half of these are reissues, for crying out loud! I don't care WHAT Hasbro's lame excuse is for making all these reissues, it's gets so old. And no little girl will want fifty of the same pony. My little sister is a prime example. She doesn't want a bunch of the same pony, she's upset b/c wants different ones. I'm not talking about Cherry Blossom in a new pose either.

And quite frankly, I could care less what comes with these reissues, I am NOT buying them, period. If it isn't an entirely NEW pony (NOT a stupid reissue) forget it. They never did this in G1 (Not that I recall anyway) why do they do this all the time now?!

Well, I guess I can look on the bright side -- I can focus my attention on collecting G1 now, since they want to do all these stupid G3 reissues. I've lost 95% of my interest in the G3 line at this point because of them. I see no point in keeping up with them anymore. Sorry to rant, but I'm just so mad right now. And surely others are tired of this ordeal too. I can't be the only one.

Head Banger

*Edit* You know what? I understand that it's impossible to not have some reissues out there. I can understand Hasbro making a reissue pony here and there, maybe a handful of them out of the list Bill provided. But this is ridiculous. ><

Um... if you don't like the reissues, you don't have to buy them. I personally like reissues if they are in a new pose and come with cute accessories. They reissue ponies so that little girls that didn't get the pony the first time it was available, will have a chance to get them again. Look at how they reuse ponies in the movies. Girls want be able to have characters from the movies, so hasbro has to offer the pony more than once.

That's fine and I totally get that being a mom... my daughter was thrilled to have pinkie pie 2, wysteria 2, etc... because we missed out on the first ones. But the sheer amount of pinkie pies, rainbow dashes, etc that have been made at this point is getting a bit ridiculous. Some of the others I don't mind so much, especially if it's a new pose, like desert rose... she's beautiful and has only been released once. But this is what, the 6th or 7th pinkie pie by now in 3 years of the line? That I just don't see the point of. My daughter LOVES pinkie pie (hence my username, lol) but I don't know if she really needs THAT many of her. Big Grin

However, if every reissue pony in this line comes with a different breezie, I will likely turn into a big sucker and buy them all. ha.

Personally, I can't wait to have all three issues of Cherry Blossom Laugh I have the first two and I'm really excited about this new pose of hers. Not a big fan of Merriweather though (never was)...might just give she and the balloon to my niece and keep the Breezie Wink

I hope Wysteria III is still in the diva pose...I wasn't able to get her with the Seaside Celebration stuff and I'm a total sucker for any pony in that pose, even the dreaded Pinkie Pie Laugh And I can just stick her bride outfit on any of my other ponies Wink Will probably stick it on Waterfire so she can marry Barnacle, hehe.

I am sick of the reissues myself. The only ones I bought of the reissues was Rainbow Dash 2 and Sunny Daze 2 because I liked their poses better. Most of the ones they are reissuing are ones I don't want, or they are in a horrible pose. I'm not much for acessories. I just want the ponies. I'll probably skip most of these for cost reasons and personal taste anyways. Reissues just means less money spent on my account. Smile
