My cats are currently chasing this around the room. It's about two inches long. What is it?? Anyone know?

Looks like a mole cricket. They dig deep into burrow underground with those front legs. They can also hop like a regular cricket.

Neat! Thanks diablalique! ^-^ It kinda reminded me of a jerusalem cricket, but not quite. I think I'll go rescue him from the cats now (they've just been following it and batting at it occassionally).

There are actually sites out there that can identify bugs for free... like.. um... a friend of mine was looking at one of those sites a while back. They have free indentify sites for all kinds of stuff, because people are trying to test their skills or something.

You could so google it. ^-^

EWWW!!! that's disguisting!!! when i showed my parents that picture, my dad said that where he and my mom came from (vietnam) those bugs are everywhere!!! And i also learned that people can eat them!!! *shudders*
