If those were golden eagles in the ditch, they'd be eating something bigger than a rodent. Those eagles are Big. They can get bigger than a baldie. Big enough to carry off a baby sheep sort of big.

I'll bet that the ones sitting on the fence were their younglings. If so, five is a huge clutch for them to be successful with.

That or the ones on the fence were jealous hawks or something...

I love to see birds of prey up close and personal. What a lucky thing to see! I once had a bald eagle land in front of my car on the road to pick at some carcas when we were visiting a wildlife sanctuary near my family farm. It was sooo impressive!

Hello, Thunderwing! Happy

Yeah, I'm sure they were eating something that was run over. Maybe an adult Raccoon.

The ones sitting on the fence weren't their younglings, cause the eagles in the ditch were pretty young themselves. I'm sure they were hawks, since they looked a bit smaller (and there are LOTS of hawks around here). I thought maybe they were waiting to see if there would be anything left for them when the eagles left?

I'm not sure though... I don't know that much about them. Happy I just know that I have seen hawks before, and the ones on the fence posts looked like hawks, while the one in the ditch looked like a Golden Eagle. Smile

God Bless!
