This is actually pony related, so just bear with me.
Last night after a good cry (I'll explain to those curious through PM) I was pondering exactly HOW MANY Mimics and Rapunzels were made.
Here's a theoretical guess. Say there were 2 million Mimics made. They were distributed to: Canada, U.S., UK, Australia, etc etc etc. So there is a good chance that many were made.
Now think about how many have been chewed up and trashed. I'm guessing about 20% at least have been mauled beyond recognition, they are childrens toys correct? Now how many are still in attics and garages or are still actual toys for small children and they do not know their monetary value? For that I'm guessing around 70%. So there's 10% that's floating around on Ebay or in collectors hands. Makes you think doesn't it?
Now for Rapunzel. Obviously alot fewer were made, I'm guessing maybe 500,000 or ever fewer, but I go with the same statistics as above.
I have a feeling that there will be a day when ponies go the way of beanie babies and people who have ALOT of them will just list them all on Ebay, and if you look closely, it's happening.

I have never thought about that before but I wouldn't doubt it if you were right. I am guessing since they ran out of Puzies that there were a lot less of her than a normal mail order maybe right?
I hope you are feeling better by the way. *hugs* Let me know if you need to talk to someone. I am always here to listen.

I am feeling better actually. I'm quite nervous which is a good thing, because it shows I'm feeling something.
I also have this weird tendancy to think up stats and stuff like that. I mean seriously. These first 50 stickered ponies. There's only 50 of EACH with that sticker. ALOT less than 'Punzie.
ALso I wonder who the next Mimic will be.

Glad you are feeling better.
If I had to guess I would think the next Punzie would be Rosey Posey. Not sure about Mimic yet though.

Well, Mimic wasn't sold in Europe (not sure about Australia), so she should be concentrated in the US and Canada.
I've wondered about this before, but I never came to any conclusions

The next Mimic could be just a normal pony. Sure, Rosey Posey will always be wanted, but Mimic was just a regular pony who could be brought in stores.
This could be the case for the next generation, too. It could be a famous pony that everybody wants. Or just a pretty one.
(Makes me cringe to think about all the Punzies and Mimics rotting away in attics, lol)

well apparently Mimic wasn't very popular. So I'm guessing its going to be a non popular 'drab' pony. In a pose that isn't used much.

eh, even if it ends up happening, it just means I get to complete my collection cheaper then I thought.
I'm not in it for the monetary value, I collect because I truly love MLP. I don’t care if she’s worth $2 or $200.
Those who bought ponies solely for the worth would be pretty upset I’m sure! If they all hit e-bay and prices plummeted.
All in all, I wouldn't worry about it! The prices have fluctuated vastly over the past decade. There has been an artificial inflation over the past few years because of the G3’s. They are drawing many people to G1 collecting who would have otherwise never cared about G1 MLP.
Many (not all of course) of the people who recently “re-discovered” MLP will tire of their collections in the future though, as right now “vintage 80’s” is a bit of a fad.
But I notice there has been a sudden boom of MOC ponies hitting e-bay. (since I collect MOC, I’m not complaining. Lol)

HMmmm....good question about who will be the next 'Mimic' in the G3's. Its gona be one thats not a really popular pony. I personally think that the ponies in Fizzy Pop spose, Waterfires pose and Strawberry Reefs pose aren't nice. But thats just my personal opinion.
If we found out who the least popular G3 is then we might get an idea

I actually never really thought of the stats, but I have wondered who the Mimic of the G3 generation will be. Probably one of the re-issue ponies!!
