I use Sauve Oatmeal shampoo and conditioner.....I leave the conditioner in for 30 minutes and then rinse it out (if really fizzy I leave on longer^^) When they are about half way dry I brush there hair with a big round brush...then when they are completely dry I brush and style away

Thanks for your compliments, GoGirl! I read a tip by you the other week about hair.. I believe you said that you use this sort of spray that helps with frizz because it replaces the plastics? Or something? Ahh, I wish I could remember! Laugh Anyway, on with your quesiton. Smile

I will wash the pony first, using Bain de Terre shampoo and conditioner [it's like 20 dollars a bottle, but I just had it lying around because I seem to have a strange obsession with collecting different shampoos and conditioners, so anything is fine], rinse it all out, then bring her to the couch. In extreme cases, I'll leave conditioner in their hair at the sink for about an hour or so, then rinse it out. From there, I put on either Family Guy or Law and Order, and get to work. Smile

Step 1 - Spray mane and tail, doesn't really matter how much you use. I use about 2-4 squirts on them. I usually let them stand with it in their hair for about 5-10 minutes.
Step 2 - I then use my cheapy flat iron I picked up at Wal-Mart for 10 dollars last summer. It's nice and small, so I can give their manes and tails that cute little flip. I only do this with pony's with straight or moderatly wavy hair since I love original curl.
Step 3 - Divide the tail into 4 [or however many you want - but no less than 4] parts. Flat iron each one until it's dry or damp [I do it until it's dry, but either way is fine], pausing each time to comb [I use a metal comb] their hair.
Step 4 - Divide the mane into 3 [or however many you want - but no less than 3] parts, flat iron each one. If you want the little flip like I gave Scrumptious, then I just take a part of her mane and curl it with the flat iron like you would with a curling iron. But SMALLER the flat iron = BETTER results. It doesn't have to be expensive, just small. Wink

And that's that! Oh, and don't worry if it sizzles, that's normal. ;D You don't necessarily have to get the Hemp stuff, I'm sure any detangler will be fine. I would buy one with heat protector JUST to be on the safe side. ThermaSilk has one that is AMAZING. I used it before my Hempz stuff.

Babyp...thanks for the advice!! You're techniques are very similar to mine, but I'm DEFINITELY going to try that leave in stuff!!! Smile Also, the tip I gave earlier... And this is for REALLY frizzy hair LOL!

I wash the ponies hair with cheapy shampoo then comb conditioner through it, (don't rinse yet). Then I spray on Black Magic Car Protectant. It's for the inside of the car for when the sun dries out the dash. It actually bakes plastics in, and replaces it when heated up. So after I spray that in, I run a flat iron through it (with hair divided into sections) as many times as it takes...that usually makes the frizz go down a TON!! After the black magic stuff, I usually shampoo and condition the pony again because that stuff doesn't smell too sweet LOL!! You can get the Black Magic at Wally World...I actually saw that tip here...

Gotta give credit where credit is due!! Big Grin

For those of you that went to the fair, I had an updo for my coconut grove.

To pull that off, I just washed and conditioned the hair.
Then, while it was still wet, I twirled her mane and tail around needle.
once it was fully twirled into a tight ball, then I secured it with another needle.
Then I added a few flowers and voila a pretty updo Smile

Sorry, but I dont have any pictures at this moment, I'll try and find them when I get home.

I suppose I could have gone a safer root and used toothpicks or somthing, but oh well.

The only bad thing about this is, is that when you take the ponies hair back down it looks awfull, but all it takes is a wash or 2 to get it back straight. (mine took about 5 becuase had her hair up like that for about 2 weeks, and then she also lived in a card board box for awhile after that before I decided to fix her hair back to normal)

For surface dirt and grime I just use baking soda and a wash cloth. Just dampen the wash cloth and dip it in the dry baking soda. The ponies look so clean. It won't get off stains, but it gets off about anything surface. Then I wipe them off with a wet wash cloth. To kill germs I will dip them in lavender tea, or wipe them down with lavender tea. Of course, if it dries in the hair it will dry a bit hrad, but nothing damaging, Just rinse the hair with water to get it out.

Wow, lavender tea? That's an awesome tip, ebony! Smile

Sometimes I'll wash/boil my ponies with dish washing fornula [powdered], too.
