Well being bombarded with the entire year of ponies in 3 weeks was staggering, so I had to make space in my space, and began packing my G1 ponies to make space for the G3s. Mind you that my G1s have been kept in drawers and cupboards. these are cool, dry places with no sunlight.... I don't understand ..... I haven't seen some of these ponies in like 2 years since I've been in Australia, they ought to be still in good condition, they were so well kept! My Baby Lickety Split grew neon pink discoloured spots, and her pink hair faded O.O It pained me heaps, since she was one of my darling favourites, and was so MINT when I got her. Worse was that a few ponies grew brown age spots, worst hit was Baby Sweetcake - OMG OMG OMG! She was my precious, and she only had this tiny brown dot when I bought her, and now this brow dot has expanded to her entire foot!!!!!!! I was devastated!!! It's not mould, it's discolouration. The brow patch is very pale, like the area affected is going to naturally discolour and bleach to white. Then comes my MINT Moondancer, she a little yellow (she was perfectly white), and some of her glitter has fallen off - NOOOOOO! I'm so upset, she was a gem in my collection, and i took so much pride in her!

More than that, the ponies' hair became very dry, and 2 felt grimy while some smelled like piss...like a cat had urinated on them or something. I live in a pet free home, so it's impossible :/ I thought it might be a lizard, but if lizards do pass by, they won't only piss, they'll leave poop too. I took them out into the open for a day and the piss smell was gone. I wondered if it could be the plastic "rotting", and thus giving out such a foul smell!!! This really worries me.....

Anyone has such an experience before?

oh no! Your poor ponies! Maybe it's because they were kept is such a dark place for so long and didn't get much air circulation? Just a thought

Eeeeek, how awful! I picked up my Ice Crystal the other day & noticed he has developed a couple of age spots... no idea where they have come from

Hey I thought that might be the reason as well! It seems the G1s need some air circulation to keep their plastics healthy

Yeah, I'm having problems with some of my childhood ponies aging. It's really getting painful especially since something is happening to one of my top favorites.

That sounds terrible. I myself am not a 'professional' collector, I have an airy pony closet with fake grass for my ponies to drift around on. I think that might prevent age marks, but I don't really know anything about plastic bacterias.

The only thing I can think of is the air circulation as well. How sad.

*hugs back MLPMom* Thanks, I really need that. LOL I've taken out all the ponies and am giving them a wash just to make sure.

How horrible. I'm sorry your ponies got those spots. I hope some of them can be fixed.
