Let's say you go to TRU to search for that new G3 you want to get. As your sifting through the Sand Dollars and Beach Combers, you realize there's a whole nother section on the other side.
You walk past a little girl who's holding a Pinkie Pie close to her, wide-eyed and grinning. Hmm, that pose looks familiar, you think to yourself, Where have I seen that before.
You crank your neck a little bit, trying your best to see her symbols. Then it hits you. It's one of the few LSPP that were released in stores.
What would you do in this situation? Would you try to talk the little girl out of buying her because of her extreme rarity, or would you try your best to grin and bear it, swallowing your pride, telling yourself that she'll become a collector in that instant and take perfect care of her?
Hypothetical situations rule.

I'd let her go ^_^
the little girl is bound to love her, and play with her, when a collector would leave her in her box.
Ponies are (in fact) child toys, and they live to be played with by a happy child. like in Toy Story
So, I would just turn my head, and get a different pony. ;3
Did that make any sense?

I second Tokala's thought. for as much as I wanted the pony, I've always been a very "Do unto others as if you were the one being done unto" person. And I know I myself (as a child or adult) wouldn't want someone to pester and try to convince me away from something I so obviously wanted.
Ecspecially as a child. I might watch her out of the corner of my eye and see if she sat it down and choose something else, but I wouldn't in anyway confront her or try to make her give it up.

Trying to talk a child out of a toy seems.. so very very wrong. Sure, would make sure they actually decided to BUY it for her (by keeping QUITE the eye on the check out area.. Hey, it IS a LSPP!), but... its a toy in the end. Why would I creep or upset a child?

Good answers you guys. I myself couldn't talk a kid out of it, either. I'd feel like such a jerk afterwards, when ponies are really rather meant for kids to play with. She'd love her more than I could ever do anyway without seeing her as just an expensive pony [I don't collect G3 avidly, so in all honesty, that's what I would think of her as]. I'd rather pay the $500+ or so instead of breaking a kids heart.

I'd try to talk the kid out of it, but in a nice way. ^.^ I'd probably offer to buy her ANY two ponies she wanted in the entire store - even the butterfly playset! - if she'd let me have that one. If she really really wanted Pinkie Pie I'd offer her my own, which is still MIB.
I'd bet that any kid would rather have two ponies rather than just one.
Of course, if that didn't work, I'd offer to buy it from the parents. Heck, if they just walked out of the store and found out that the pony they just paid five bucks for was one I was willing to pay a hundred for, they might sell her to me and then console the kid later with something else.
Thinking back on my own childhood, the first idea would have worked on me. Any TWO is better than any One! Totally. (Or if someone had offered to trade me any one of mine for a big brother, I'd have loved that! Mom had said we couldn't afford the big brothers so I had to settle for a flutter instead...)
If it all failed, I'd probably go home and mope. But not too badly, there's lots of ponies I can't have.

I would try and talk her into buying another pony, give her money for it, tell her her's is broken cause it has ugly words on it and this *other* pinkie pie is better and she should get the better one! lol

I'd have to leave it with the little girl.
I've done it in real life when a wee one got to a stall before me at a car boot sale and bought Ice Crystal and Sunburst.
I had tears in my eyes (no joke) and my teeth were grinding, but as others have said, they are after all child's toys and as we all know, if it is clutched in your swearty hand, it's yours.

Oh what an interesting lot of answers! What is an LSPP please? Tokala is so right, they are children's toys. Actually, I'm not wishing to sound rude, I'm genuinely interested, but I'd really love to know the attraction of having lots of boxes.
I can understand taking them out of the boxes and displaying them, and admiring them, I've got a couple of lovely Coalport Ladies, and I love looking at them, but not looking at the boxes.
Please don't shout at me! But I'm assuming the people who collect these and keep them in the boxes must enjoy having them like that.

Hello, Scarlett!
LSPP is an acronoym for licensing Show Pinkie Pie. She looks just like the regular Pinkie Pie, but her symbol has the words "Licensing Show" on it. She was a special promotion during the 2003 Licensing Show, and was limited to 350 or so pieces and only given out packaged in a plastic bag. Some of these were actually mispackaged, and sold in stores.
Here's a picture of her and her symbol from Ponytopia.
