I'd be disappointed, but I wouldn't try to get it away from the little girl. I'd just have to hope another one would come along sometime.

I have pinkie pie, the normal one, so I don't know why I'd want another.
heck actually I'd be happy to be in a store with PONIES at $5 each! There's nothing here and what we do have is pretty darn expensive, even compared to the UK.

I'd prefer to let her be loved by a kid, that's why I don't go for minty ponies in my collection Wink I prefer the ones who have at least been toys for a little while (*ahem* my beaten up mountain boys....)

I'm 13, I know. If I saw her put it down, I'll just pick it up and buy it, if she don't and brings her to storeout, i'd leave her, I just don't have the heart to talk her out of buying it... Plus, it'd be tough because I'm deaf

I would try everything to talk her out of it. What difference does it make to kids? That's a killer piece for collectors. All the kid is going to do is take it home, open it and play it with for minimal amount of time, or butcher the hair, draw all over it, etc. I wouldn't rip it out of her hands ( though I would be controlling myself.) I wouldn't want to upset the kid, but I'd try to get it. I would probably beg the parents to let me have it. I'd tell them that its something I have been trying to find, or something, just not enough to make them WANT to get it to resell. But really, those LSPPs are for collectors!

I wouldn't think it was too unreasonable, if you offered her something better. Any kid would jump at the chance of more ponies, surely?

I think I would probably do the same thing as thegrumpysnail, wait and see if she sees a 'better' one and puts LSPP down, if she doesn 't aproach her and her parents, offering Pinkie Pie and another pony to them instead. Actually, I think I
would explain the situation to my mom, and have her aproach her, they might not take a young teen like me seriously.

This is really all about what we SHOULD do, and what we WOULD do!!! We have car boot sales here (I think you call them Yard Sales), and we have zillions of television programmes about them. You hear people squeal because they have bought some Very Valuable Piece of China, worth £50,000 for 50p.

Which is great for them, but then you think "What about the person who sold it? How must THEY be feeling now?" But then, if I was the person who bought it, wouldn't I be feeling great?

Yes, that's the trouble with hypothetical questions! We can only give hypothetical answers!! Really interesting though. BTW I've changed my name cos there is now someone called Scarlet, with one "t", as well as Miss Scarlett, so as my sig is Grandma Scarlett, I've adopted that as my name. New Year - New Me!!!

I've done it in real life when a wee one got to a stall before me at a car boot sale and bought Ice Crystal and Sunburst.

I had tears in my eyes (no joke) and my teeth were grinding, but as others have said, they are after all child's toys and as we all know, if it is clutched in your swearty hand, it's yours.

Shlugh

I had a day like that shlugh! there were no ponies at the sale and while I was looking at a Sindy stall I looked down at a woman who had a whole carrier bag full of ponies! I offered her husband £10 for it (she was in the middle of a sindy doll deal) when she had finished she said no cos she was gonna take them home and wash them Sad so I went away, then came back again to have a chat to see if she was a collector, but they were for her daughter . Sad I have never got over it really. she only paid £2 for the whole bag.

Oh, this is an excellent hypothetical!!

I don't know what I would actually do, but I think that the child and parents would determine it for me. If I think the kid and/or parents are horrible and nasty, I'd probably try to talk them out of the pony. If they are really nice and make me feel good looking at them, the pony is theirs and they'll get a bunch of knowledge about their find from this collector. Happy I like to reward good people.

Glittering Starshower, I was refering to creepy more along the lines of not wanting to just talk to some random child since some parents might freak out about a stranger trying to talk to their child thinking the kid will be stolen (even though I'm female and not societally considered a threat, some parents are probably still going to be leary of everyone), but I definitely understand what you're saying. If saying I was a collecter and asking to trade something else for the LSPP creeped someone out, I guess it would just be my loss.

It's too bad some people are so closed minded about people collecting toys. But it has definitely become more mainstream. Some people just like to judge people for everything. I've never had anybody say anything negative to me while pony hunting. I don't seem to even encounter children very often while looking. If somebody tried to look at me like I was psycho I'd just ignore it and gleefully buy my ponies Smile I had a friend basically say I was childish and stupid for collecting toys, but I suggested to him that he might consider talking it up since he isn't a very happy person most of the time hehe Poke Tounge Big Grin

I say, first come first served. If the kid picked the pony up and she wants to buy it, then let her buy it. Happy Another pony will eventually come along again, you know. And plus, that pony probably made that child's day.
