Hi everyone!
My name's Ingrid, but my nickname has always been Narah (in many different forums). I am a 23 year-old equine vet and I'm British but I have been living in Spain all my life (although I go to England to visit all family every summer).
I'm new to pony collecting, but not new to My Little Pony. In fact, my first birthday present when I was exactly 1 was an original flat-foot Blue Belle, and at that age I had all or most of those first ponies.
After that the only toys I ever asked for were ponies, I hated barbies and dolls as I was very much a tomboy, but I loved the ponies (not so much the accesories though).
Unfortunately they stopped making them and I never quite appreciated the G2 ponies, so my ponies were discarded as I became older and moved to a different house and such.
About two years ago I decided it was time to rescue my old ponies from the box they were in. I was horrified to find out that the dogs had managed to get a lot of them (particularly all the oldest) and the mice had done a good job with the rest.
I put together all the ponies I was able to find and I was horrified to find that I had only managed to save a few from my large collection. I cleaned them up and put them in a safer place.
As I have finished my university course, I have started working (as a vet and part-time English teacher) so at last I have some money of my own to spend on what I wish, so I have decided to collect ponies once more, and complete the collection I once had (and maybe add a few more).
My goal at present is to buy all the first and second year ponies as they are very special to me. Unfortunately I am a giant newby and ebay scares me, because I can't decided quickly enough about bidding, or how much to bid! The main problem is that there are no old ponies for sale in Spain, there doesn't seem to be much collecting here and car boots/flea markets/second-hand shops don't exist.
As I can't get them here in Spain I have to add the cost of shipping to the price, so it works out quite expensive!
Anyway, sorry for such a long introduction, I thought it would be nice to introduce myself correctly. Hope I wasn´t too much of a bore.
Narah.

Over the course of my re-collecting, i learned that if one misses it enough, one doesnt care how much they pay for that little hunk of plastic. The one i missed the most ended up being the most hard to find of a mail order set...that i ended up paying nearly $70. It was Baby Dancing Butterflies XD and i do not regret it for a moment

Thanks for the warm welcome!!
My plan is to collect G1 ponies plus one or two new ponies I'll buy here in the shops because they're also cute. But I don't think I'll try to collect the G3 because there seem to be loads!!
Anyway, thanks again for the welcome!!

Welcome to the Arena
You could always try buying from people here. Then you may be able to get a deal if you buy multiple from the same person and you could save on the shipping
And if you have questions about pricing, don't be afraid to ask. We were all new to this once
See you around! I hope you enjoy being part of the community

I have been looking at the sale/trade gallery and I think I will try and buy ponies from members, as it seems simpler and a better way to start as you say.
Thanks for the tips!

Great introduction, one of the best I've read! Congrats on university, and I look forward to reading your replies and seeing you around on the forums!
If you need help deciphering MLP pricing, here is a great website that can help you out.

Thank you very much for the price list, it gives a clear idea about which ponies are more difficult to find and therefore more likely to be expensive!
A lot of traders say their ponies are rare and maybe they aren't so much (probably because they don't know)
