PostPosted: 0    Post subject: Um... hi?

Greetings from another pony fan. Smile

What can I tell you about me? My story's probably a pretty familiar one, I suppose. I'm a guy who fell in love with the ponies back during G2. I had quite the collection - at least 50 ponies, probably closer to 100. Strangely enough, my father never had any problem with it, but my mother seriously did not approve. So, when it was time to leave home for college, I was pressured into selling my collection, which, sadly, I did. And since all of them were bought in Norway (where I lived at the time), I'm beginning to realize that I may have thrown away a potential Nirvana treasure trove.

The only consolation there is that the little girl who got them seemed as though she might give them all a good home. I still wish I had been headstrong enough to have kept a few; I miss my Gusty and Fizzy and Applejack especially. Sad

Ah, well. The past is past, and all that. Now I am a grown man, reasonably successful, and if I want to spend my money on ponies, I will. Big Grin So after struggling a bit with residual embarassment (my wife is supportive, thankfully), I emerge as a limited G3 collector with an interest in trying my hand at customization and clothes design.

So yes, hello. Glad to be here.

Nice to meet you, bloomy87. Smile

I just saw this in a sticky up above, and what the heck, it's a simple enough questionnaire, and good for starters. So:

Personal:

Roughly how old are you?
Um, 34. Possibly a little old for ponies, but... yeah. Look Round

Approxiamately where do you live? State, Country?
St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

Do you work or attend school? Profession or major?
I work, as a software developer. Writing is my main hobby, besides collecting ponies.

Who are the important people in your life?
My wife and three children, two boys aged 10 and 7, and a little girl who's 10 months. I'm hoping one day she and I will be able to share in the pony joy.

Ponies:

How long have you been collecting?
Depends on when you start measuring. I first fell in love with the ponies back when I was a teenager, maybe 10 years ago or thereabouts. I went on hiatus when I was basically forced to sell my original collection, and besides, this was in that long period (I think it was called the '90s) when Hasbro took a break from making ponies. There was that brief period when they tried to bring ponies back into vogue, all of them shaped more-or-less like the G2 Sweet Sister ponies (remember them?), and somewhere in this house I have all of those ponies. I need to hunt them down. Then, just recently - like within the past year - I've started collecting the G3 ponies, especially those that came with outfits. I like pony clothes. Heh. Look Round

Which generations of ponies do you collect? G1, G2 or G3?
G3, as I've said, and I have the full line from the brief trial comeback of the ponies back in the '90s, if I can just find them again.

What made you want to collect ponies?
Wow, this is a tough one. I don't honestly know. I just... fell in love with the ponies, back when I was a teenager. How can you explain that? :dontgetit: I can't. They just... speak to something inside me, and I respond. They make me happy. Not much more reason than that.

Tell us about your collection.
It's pretty small at present, as I've only really been getting those ponies who come with clothes. I like pony clothes, as I think I mentioned earlier. Look Round Let's see, I've got Golden Delicious, Cherry Blossom, Minty, Toboggan, Sparkleworks, Bumblesweet, Sew-and-so, Butterscotch, Heather Winds, Shenanigans, Skywishes, Sweetsong, and I think her name is Bebop. Along with a small plushie Fluttershy and large plushie Rainbow Dash, Sew-and-so, and Shenanigans. Oh, and my two latest, Wind Drifter and Fancy Free. I tend towards uniqueness in pose, design, and, of course, clothing. Smile

Whoa, been writing that for a while, apparently. Hi to you, too, baby_gypsy, ChibiSkittles, and nerissa! Boy ponies are kinda rare, huh? Look Round

Hi there, silver__dragon! *waves*

Oh, and sorry about that, ChibiSkittles. The only place I've been forum-ing for a while now is over on NeoPets, where they don't have post editing. Have to reset my brain to phpBB mode. Look Round

I had the chance to get Kimono I back when I was still debating with myself as to whether or not I should get back into ponies again... alas, I let her slip away.

You know, if they released a Kimono in a kimono, I would so be all over that...

[EDIT]
Or perhaps once I get a little more adept at sewing pony clothes, I shall design one myself... hmmm...

Hi there and welcome! I am so sorry about your original collection. My parents think I am strange for collecting ponies, and my mom can be really mean about it. But you have found a great place to express your pony love! Smile I hope you have a lot of fun trying to bulk up your collection again!
